Can we fix our issues over the next two seasons?

In other words, Conley isn’t getting any younger and very, very likely won’t opt out. We won’t have cap room to get better at the 4 or improve our depth much if at all.

So how do we get better this season or next? Our chemistry could improve, sure but will it be enough to net us better than the 4 or 5 seed?

I’m doubtful.

We need to get Marcus Morris.

He could play either role for us:

Starter who gives us more size at the 4 and allows Royce to be the defensive specialist off the bench and fill what everyone has fantasized as Exum’s role.

Or, could come off the bench and be our offense guy.

Having a great year and NYK trading him for Exum and Bradley would be dumb, but I don’t think anyone is giving up a first round pick for him, especially with no bird rights and his San Antonio shenanigans. We can throw in those two NOP picks. They’re headed nowhere. Would make sense to try to cash in, but also could just retain him to at least not suck as bad.

I'm pretty sure we'll have the full mid level exception to use in the offseason, which is around $9 or $10 million, so our bench should be much better next season.

Are we gonna reup Royce and use that? Especially knowing we’ll have to extend Don and Rudy soon enough?

It’s tough to know what this means because it’s still quite early in the season, but as of now, we have the fifth easiest remaining strength of schedule. The Clips have the fourth easiest. The Rox have the 6th, Nuggs 8th and Lakers 10th...

I'm afraid the team is pretty locked in the next two years. No one is taking on Conley or Exum, they are deep negative contracts. All our future 1st are already are spoken for.

I’m not sure I agree about Exum. If he shows something, he could be moved to a team who is wing-needy and frontcourt heavy like the Knicks, who perhaps are looking for youth with potential.

If he shows something. Lololololololol

He’s not gonna show anything getting no minutes. Mudiay is probably worth more on the trade right now, but it’s the money that we need to trade.

I believe that Tony Jones said this summer when Marcus Morris was a free agent that Marcus on the Jazz would never happen. Think he said that neither side had any interest in the other. He implied that the Jazz weren't a fan of his attitude. Unless my recollection is bad on this.

A couple Marcus Morris videos...

And in this one, the first word of the broadcast is "Utah." That's gotta mean something, right?

More likely we'll get Portis, which I'm fine with.

We can resign Royce and STILL use the exception. We may go over the LT cap slightly, bit we are a long ways off from the repeater tax, so we should be fine.

I think we’d be hard capped for a season if we use the full MLE... would likely be fine though.

To the OP... we can add depth for sure. MLE and you figure some of our young guys will be contributing next season. We don’t need a ton more help... we need luck, health, and a little improvement.

The championship window is this year while warriors are tanking

They won’t be the powerhouse they were before... our window is the next 2/3 years... maybe longer if we get a good young piece or two.

I am not worried about the Warriors. The Clippers, Bucks, Rockets, Nuggets, Lakers, 76ers, Toronto and Celtics are teams I worry about. Heck I would even throw in the MAVs before I worry about the Warriors. The Jazz need to find some scoring off the bench. I don't know if Jamal Crawford has anything let but he has killed the Jazz over the years. Jazz also need a real PF. I love Royce but he is 6'4 playing PF. It would be great to find a stretch 4 but I don't really know one that is realistically attainable.
