What's new

Can the Emmanuel Mudiay and Jeff Green experiments please end.

That's the second guy mentioning 6 years, am I missing something? This is Mudiay's 5th year in NBA, he is 1 year younger than Exum... what extra years you guys are counting?

Accounting for leap years and consulting the Mayan calendar.

Yeah my bad, I was the first one to say 6 years. It's 5. I apologise.

Why do you think Joe is out of rythym all the time. Has he ever shot this bad before?

He's not out of rythym because of who is on the court with him, he's just in a shooting slump. He's getting many of the same good looks he's gotten in recent years. The ball just isn't going in. He'll be fine though. I'm not worried. He had a similar slump at the beginning of last season and as the season went on he got hotter and hotter from the field. He'll dial in that deep ball.

I disagree

Well, cold hard stats agree with me. Over 35% of his shots this season have come with 6+ feet of space or wide open according to NBA.com stats. He's averaging 2.2 3 point field goal attempts per game that have 6+ feet of space or wide open and only making 32% of them so far.

He's getting looks. Not making them.... yet.

nothing better than supporters thinking mudiay is not costing the jazz right now,
what has he done besides make so many mistakes and not get dragged.
I want exum gone too, just doesn't fit this system

Mudiay has been a positive for the team in 9 out of 12 games. That's simply a fact.

It's also a fact that in his most +ve games (I'm assuming you're basing this on +/-), he totalled 11 assists, only 3 turnovers and a minimum +/- of +8. In his worst five games, he almost exactly flipped these stats, having 4 assists and 11 turnovers, with his +/-ranging from +3 to -24 (the last an outlier). The conclusion I draw from this is that he's a better player when he passes more (as long as it's to his team-mates!) - which is exactly what we all want.

As an aside, he is averaging 1 more TO and one more foul per 36 this year compared to last year, so if he could address this by eliminating his regular charging foul from his game, that would be great.

And lastly - he's shooting a massive 12% more than this career average this season. Let's hope that's sustainable, and he doesn't regress to the mean.
