The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Looks like The Thriller had something to add. Too bad I have him on ignore because I give his nonsensical mainstream led opinions less consideration than I would give to a turd laid in the middle of the the salt flats.

Multiple credible legal analysts have stated this. I'm willing to look it up if you're willing to say that it will change your mind. So, how about it? If merely asking a foreign government to interfere in an election is a crime, will it change your mind about whether Trump should be impeached? If not I won't waste my time.

We've been through 52 USC Subpart III already, I I gave Mueller's interpretation of it and Weintrab's dealings trying to get that law language changed over to your stance. And I'm not the one here unwilling to change my mind. You've been pounding the drum and spamming anti-Trump stuff since before the transcript even came out. Are you willing to change your mind or is everything going to continue to be viewed through impeach Trump lenses? Have you once given consideration to the possibility of innocence?

Absolutely. I actually started out hoping he would be a good president even though I didn't vote for him. I even applauded his choice of Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. I didn't start this thread on day one of his presidency. So with each charge against him I've considered that possibility. But the evidence against him on multiple matters is now so overwhelming I frankly don't even respect the opinions of people like yourself anymore. There's simply no debate to be had.

P.S. And yes, I was calling for his impeachment long before the Ukraine call transcript came out. That is because he had already committed multiple impeachable offenses by then, at least imo. Such as, for example, obstruction of justice with regards to Mueller's investigation. And other things such as are in post 2 of this thread. But it hasn't been until the Ukraine thing that I've taken the stance that I now have, which I expressed above, namely that there is now no possible way of defending Trump's behavior and I have no respect for those who try.

Likewise. I've stayed out of this thread for the most part (maybe a couple dozen posts scattered over 300 pages?) because y'all are unhinged and get ruffled too easy when someone doesn't see the light of day that your god complex is shining so brightly upon us, and I prefer to think better of you.

I'll duck back out since caring about the rule of law, facts, and evidence is not respectable, as opposed to thriving on conjecture, hearsay, sensational journalism, witch hunting, and re-interpreting laws to fit an agenda.

Wow, you are so far into an alternate reality that I fear there is no hope for you.

@Catchall where can I pitch my tent?

The real problem why the right and left are so far apart is because of how over the top the left is going about this. If they took a more measured and calm approach to their concerns then maybe they could be taken more serious.

Oh get off your high horse for christs sake. If you want to pretend Trump hasn't abused the power of the presidency that's one thing, don't give us this ******** about not caring about the rule of law.

ouch! That’s harsh. A bit too extreme, don’t you think?

also, how would a turd end up in the salt flats?

Don’t you find it interesting that for every major controversy of his presidency, Donald has claimed his innocence while acting 100 percent guilty? I mean, if there really wasn’t anything to Russia, why would you fire the FBI Director and spend years stonewalling the special prosecutor’s investigation? Why wouldn’t you immediately testify to clear up the whole misunderstanding? Why would you lie in written answers to the special prosecutor? Why would you dangle pardons to sentenced criminals?

Likewise, with the Ukrainian deal, why wouldn’t you compel your key cabinet members to testify and clear this entire thing up? Why would you stonewall the House? Why would you permit your “personal attorney” to be in Ukraine AS WE SPEAK?

But you know, Republicans care about rule of law and stuff...

You're being far too kind. Over the top is as mild as you could phrase it. I think the guy is scum, even told my kid when he asked that I lamented his election because I think we should respect the office regardless of who wins but didn't want him to respect it with Trump, think they should impeach him for illegally paying off hookers with campaign money, think he deserves to be impeached for his racist go back to where they came from remark about some congresswomen, and even believe he is most likely guilty of trying to bribe Ukraine even if it cannot be proven. But all of that is not enough if I'm not all in with both feet with every little fanatical accusation thrown out in this constant barrage.

Sorry, but those who care about the rule of law, facts, and evidence are on my side of this. Those who constantly lie, obstruct, and prevent people from testifying are on your side.

Speaking of which,

You honestly think that Trump is the biggest issue this nation faces when we have Biden leading the opposition and so little voting turnout?

Biden waited until Trump was on US soil again, before releasing this campaign ad last night. In the world of political leadership, by friends( if we even have any friends by the time Trump is through) and foes alike, Donald Trump is the biggest laughing stock on this planet. One of the things this Never Trumper most regrets, I mean it is one sad state of affairs, is knowing the president is universally regarded as a buffoon by his "peers". Does not exactly do us proud. And all you need to know about Trump can be gleaned by watching one of his rallies to see he has no class, and simply does not care to be informed. We elected a guy who does not care to be informed, briefed, etc. And who runs his office like a mob boss.

Whoever the Democratic candidate eventually is has a wealth of material to draw upon:

That’s a very radical approach that doesn’t help your cause of bringing people to your side, accusing all those that question this impeachment process as liars and obstructionists. Maybe if you tone it down a little people would take your claims more seriously. All that I see so far is a bunch of one-sided hate.

I can’t take that ad seriously given the source. I want great for a great country, not mediocre.

Perhaps you missed this tweet @The Thriller posted earlier. Simply put, Congress has the constitutional granted right of oversight over the Executive branch of the federal government. It's part of our federal system of checks and balances. The SCOTUS can rule a Congressional passed law unconstitutional. The President can veto a Congressional passed law. The Congress can override a veto, etc., etc, etc. All these built in checks and balances are designed to prevent power accruing too much in one of the three branches.

In the case of impeachment, a right granted to Congress as part of the oversight "check" granted Congress by our Constitution, the president was not granted the right to say: "I'm so sorry, but Congress does not excercise oversight over me. I am above the law, and Congress cannot impeach me. I have spoken". If he could legally say such a thing, we would lose a president and gain an elective monarchy.

We are not an elective monarchy yet, and some of us believe we should act to prevent such a state of affairs. And, somehow, you chose to describe that as "hate". OK....

I can’t take that ad seriously given the source.

I'm pretty sure politicians of all stripes rely on ad agencies( and we might have a good thread discussing how our election system involves "the selling of a president", since candidates are marketed, just like new cars), and don't actually create the political ads themselves, but whatever....

Fwiw I was taking about Trump and cohort as the liars and obstructionists. Not random people who are questioning the process. Those I just consider blind. I hope you open your eyes soon.
