Shanahan turning that team around? Really? He's made the playoffs, what, one time since Elways retired and got killed in the game? Dude's the most overrated head coach ever.

Colt made a couple very nice deep sideline throws. He looks like he has a legit arm, which is one of the last questions left on him. Robo actually had a half step on Asomugha (sp) before he got called for a push. Pretty impressive, looking at that play I don't know that he needed that push. Our Guard play was mediocre to bad, Steiny was out, Lauavo & Pinkston are both basically rookies, Lauavo hurt all last year. Pashos cannot stop good rushers at RT. Browns are going to have to call a lot more run plays to be effective in the regular season, but in preseason it's better to acclimate the QBs and pass catchers. It was nice that Hardesty finally made an appearance.

Phil Taylor is a beast. He was tearing the Eagles' interior line to shreds. Secondary was pretty good considering both starting safeties were out. Haden basically shut Jackson down, although the DLine had a lot to do with that. We have no depth in the front 7 but the starters are pretty good, especially the front 4.

FYI Mason is a Jet. The Ravens got Lee Evans who as a speed guy is a great compliment to the ultra tough Boldin. Their new TE looks good too. IMO if they can squeeze another good season out of those old defenders they will be better than last year.

Games from Thursday 8/25

Browns vs. Philly
Still not sure what to think about the Eagles. They shut down the Browns for the most part in the 1st half and Vick lead them to the 1 scoring drive. The Brownies have some young talent and even though I like the way Hillis runs (Reminds me of a younger Bettis with the Power and quick feet), for some reason I am almost just waiting for him to get injured (Madden curse).

Cincy vs. Panthers
Wow... Newton looked horrible. Not just bad but horrible. They made a movie about how he played called "Happy Feet". The O Coordinator was either testing him by having him only stay in the pocket and not design any plays to roll him out or is an idiot but wow...

AJ Green - Future Star
Dalton - Future solid QB
Benson - Future Jailbird

Baltimore vs. Washington
For some reason I can see Shanny turning this team around. I still don't know which QB you play as they looked about even again. I think by putting in the zone blocking scheme it will really allow Hightower to be a MUCH better RB than he we in Arizona. Also Helu continues to impress me.

Joe Flacco continues to look like a 'good' QB and Ray Rice is a Damn Good back. Will be fun to see if Flacco can use both Mason and Boldin effectively. Can't wait for week 1 vs. the Steelers in Baltimore. Flacco has never beat the Steelers when Big Ben has started so hopefully that streak continues.

At least Newton didn't throw any picks.

My mistake.. was thinking Evans and Mason came out.... Evans is the deep threat that I think that offense needed. I think it will open up the offense to having Boldin be more of himself (ie.. Arizona Days) and catch 90+ Balls. We will see though but I think the question mark for that team is the age of the defense and some of the turnover they have had the past few years.

Compared to where they have been the past few years adn the drama that followed (Haynesworth).. yes I see them trending upward. The unfortunate thing for this team is they play in probably the best division in the NFC or League.

I mean if he could have thrown some picks at least someone woudl have caught his balls instead of the ground... what did he end up? 6/19 or something?

Still better than turning the ball over, just saying. The Panthers should be able to have a power run game. As long as Newton is constantly turning the ball over they may have a chance to win some games.
