What's new

How many days, months, years do we need to wait on Conley now?

Sad that dumping him now will be pennies on the dollar, but I don't see anyone picking up that contract when he will most certainly take the player options next year.

It's going to be difficult to win a trade involving Conley this season. We'd have to go after CP3 or Kevin Love and be willing to take it in the shorts the last two years of those deals (right when we're supposed to be contending). Blake Griffin and Otto Porter are now damaged goods, and I don't think the Jazz would touch those guys.

I could maybe see a scenario where we trade Clarkson to OKC for Schroeder and trade Conley for Kevin Love (probably in a 3-way deal). That would be a pretty big shakeup for a team that just went 19-3 over the last quarter of the season. That assumes the Jazz love Kevin Love enough to let go of Clarkson as part of the deal. Feels like a reach.

Otherwise, maybe we can send Conley to NY for spare parts, but that would lower the team's ceiling for this season at least.

Just like Chris Paul, Durant till he joined a 72 win team, Karl Malone, John Stockton, AI, Barkley, Wilkins.

That's just a stupid point.
So your point is to compare a non all-star to all-time greats and HoFers. Yeah, that is totally not stupid. Good job. Keep going

Conley isn't even Lillard or AD level of failure in the playoffs. He's more of a Mike Bibby typa building piece for playoff teams. Good pieces. Not difference maker by any means. Let alone being the difference maker for a championship.

Hey these hall of famers never won a ring though, and have losing records in playoffs. Your whole line of thinking is stupid.

What makes a player with losing records in playoffs contribute to a contending team. Doesn't George Hill, Matthews, Middleton help the Bucks? They have had nothing but losing records in playoffs.

He just had his career year. You're being willfully moronic, as you are on almost all topics.

So he's had a bad start. He's has a long enough track record to be given the benefit of the doubt. If youre too stupid to get that then that's on you
Career year on a crap team?

Would you call hill, Matthews, Middleton the "difference maker"? Like "can't do it without him"? It makes all the difference doesn't it? U think people here at JFZ talked about Conley in a way that is more similar to the likes of Matthews/Hill, or to Hofers/superstars of their generations like Kawhi, KD, etc?

What should be the reasonable expectation for Conley?

So any player who hasn't won a ring doesn't help you win a ring?
Role players definitely help you win. But you can easily replace them with some other players and end up with similar results. Difference makers are the ones we can't really replace them with anyone else. Which one do you think is more representative of the current state of Conley?

Ok? Still a career year. Are we being morons who question Conley's ability to play on a winning team?
No. We question your statement of "Conley is the difference maker in contending for a championship", which is far far far far FARRRRRR from the "Conley can play on a winning team".

Derek Fisher was nice but he was not the reason Lakers won 5 championships. HUGE difference. No discount allowed here sorry.

The current state of Conley isn't what playoff Conley will be.

So you want to argue your semantics versions of difference makers?

No thanks

Conley is a great vet who will be a difference maker.

Middleton, sure. They are completely different without him.

For a second round or possible conference final exit, sure. Championship? No thanks. Just wishful thinking. He's simply not that level. Not close

Lmffaffo

Willfully ignoring the most recent half a season is far more moronic than recognising that the past is the past.
