2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

I see a lot of people do this. Always shake my head. Like, sometimes it's just too obvious. I'm the exact opposite. Consistent to a fault.
I'm a CPA and made a lot of good connections in business and have some wealthy friends... every time they have a venture/deal/idea I get a call... I then find all the reasons the "sure" thing will certainly fail... if they get out of the conversation and feel okay about things they can go forward in confidence. I've helped be captain obvious to some people and they think I'm a genius.

I've developed some great catch phrases like "Do you know what 100% of nothing is?" and "this sounds like a long walk for a warm beer" and my Father in Laws personal favorite "its either a hell yes or its a no".

Consistency is good... not always fun and there are times I want to branch out a little.

Could you finish with Mitchell-Bogey-Ingles-RoCo-Gobert?

I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer Royce to RoCo. I think he's really over-rated. He isn't a lock down defender... he's disruptive and causes deflections... I prefer lockdown guys.

Yeah, but if it gets Conley off the team then we’re better.

I’m officially out on Conley. He ruins what makes the Jazz both great and special.
I would flip RoCo to a third team and get something else... I think his trade value is higher than his on court value.

Conley was good last game... I just don't think he hits that level that people think will give us another gear. I've kind of given up on this year's team being a contender so I can enjoy the season a bit more with reduced expectations I guess.

Conley for Covington and Dieng works salary wise. This is like best case scenario.

We’d also get a backup Center in the process. I’d throw a first-round pick in, however long down the line to make it work.

I think it works best straight across. If there’s an argument for a pick heading anywhere then it’s to Utah.

Conley is a fine player that doesn’t fit here at all.

That is brilliant! Seriously, thanks for sharing that. I hope you don't mind me stealing it.

It depends on what we’d get back for RoCo but I can back your point in theory.

and Conley has to be playing out of his mind in order to offset trampling on Joe and Rudy, the damage he does to our defense and rebounding, and putting Royce in a role where his strengths are wasted. You know this, I just wanted to answer the sentiment of “Conley was good last game...” I don’t give a **** about his game.

I'm 100% sure I stole them from someone... so yes please keep stealing. They are great one liners that convey a ton of meaning... I get small laughs on "long walk for a warm beer" all the time.

I do wonder if we could get some pop out of having a great pick and roll big and moving Joe to the bench a bit... Maybe Mike can figure it out a bit better.

RoCo does some things I like I just think people have forgotten he wasn't good in the playoffs a couple years ago and I value guys like Danny Green more. People talking about getting two first for him... I wonder if those firsts could be routed for something better.

I don't think swapping Mike for Dieng/RoCo changes our playoff fate. Might help our long-term planning.

Not sure, but probably because they're bent on having shooters all over the floor, and Collins is a limited shooter. Also because they might believe in Deandre Hunter. Just guessing.
His name has come up in trade pods and I wondered why. They might be trading him while his value is high because of the odd fit he'd make with other front court partners. He sux on defense and with Trae that might not be workable.

One thing I saw mentioned... Spurs might want to cut some salary by moving Belinelli and/or Demarre Carroll. I would have interest in a Demarre for Ed trade. DMC makes like $6M this year and next... has a small guarantee on the year after. Has been out of the rotation and his agent wants him moved... his agent is Mark Bartelstein… who owes us a couple favors so maybe we get something done there.

For those of you that don't know... Mark is Gordon's agent and Joe's agent... Jazz could have absolutely thrown his *** under the bus, but didn't... he owes us a few favors imo.

Myles Turner would change who the Jazz are in a good way. A lineup of Mitchell/Ingles/Bogey/Turner/Gobert or Conley/Mitchell/Bogey/Turner/Gobert is top shelf. Clarkson for Turner works salarywise, but obviously the Jazz would need to give more compensation.

Wanted to hit on the second part... I agree the fit creates issues and the starting lineup seemed to have the right "order of the universe". It might not be enough to push past the really great teams though... doesn't mean it isn't the best version of this team.

I thought Mike looked good and it matters to me for a few reasons... even if we suck and end up losing this year we need Mike to play good. Will help his trade value or change the narrative that he is finished. If he doesn't fit other teams will still want him... if he sucks then we are in trouble. This offseason some teams will miss on their FA targets and get desperate. Might be a better chance to pivot. A doubt we pivot this week... I've given up on a title this season... LAC, LAL, Mil, are all clearly better... all have an opportunity to add a piece. None of those teams are GSW good, but I don't see us having the horses to beat those teams and I think they create some matchup issues for us.
