What's new

2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

That's the thing... I just don't think we are really trying to contend at this point. I think this offseason that was the idea, but certain things haven't materialized and we likely know there are not really any moves that we can make that change that.

But the window of opportunity closes quickly with every passing year ....

If Detroit can't find a home for Andre I think they could deal Wood. If they move him I doubt they trade him. Couple seconds likely the highest offer.

I think the Houston Boston stuff involves RoCo… wonder if Minny will need to clear roster spots as those two teams throw a bunch of contracts their way.

What I'm hinting at for us @infection is maybe NWG for Vonleh becomes a real thing... they can cut NWG immediately to open up a roster spot and it saves them 250k in real dollars because of the difference in salary.
Get it done. Do you know what $250k can get you on some sports bets? A lot. I'm sure Wes could tell you. You could lose all of it, but it's house money and you've already got your second.

What does our second round pick situation look like? Do we have any extras left or have we traded them all?

It's not even worth discussing.....if we trade Conley this season I'll shave my head bald and post pictures.
I shave my head bald anyway. So I guess if the move Conley I'll... grow hair?

Been saying for years that every move these guys have made has had salary and luxury tax implications. Tillman doesn't have as deep of pockets as many of the other owners and sunk a lot of his net worth into the Rockets acquisition. Will need to operate it as a business and not a toy.

I think they end up with RoCo and Theis for Capela, Nene... Boston will give a pick and Houston might too... picks would go to Minny. It will drop the Rockets just below the luxury tax, but they will swear up and down it was all about the basketball.

This team will end up trading Harden in the next couple years.

Zach Lowe's trade primer is saying that the Spurs are willing to discuss moving Poeltl. It's a no-brainer for the Jazz to be in on those discussions. Poeltl's a high-quality backup who can start if need be, and he fits the Jazz's current system pretty well. He's in our price range.

He's a restricted FA this summer, but worth paying $10M/year imo.

The other guy to target is obviously Aron Baynes.

Carroll hasn't been a good defender in years. And his shot is streaky at best. Meh.

He's not great and is streaky... its hopefully a good upgrade over Niang though... better rebounder, better defender, worse shooter

Carroll for Davis makes a ton of sense for both sides tbh
Lol, Carroll is even more unplayable than Ed this year... Given his current age and conditions shown over the course of last two season, it's safe to say that his career of being a good NBA basketball player is pretty much over. but he still have three years left on his contract... I'd rather experiment with Maker or Jackson's expering contract. Low risk high reward versus carroll's high risk low reward
