Trail Blazers @ Jazz 8:30 PM MT: THE LOSING STREAK ENDS TONIGHT

jesus you’re a buttnutt.
@rare144

I agree with your assessment of Randle. He would have been a great add before he went to NOLA and we got Bojan and Conley. He wouldn't fit too well now because he excels with the ball in his hands and we have too many guys who need the ball to be successful.

The only way they can rationalize not closing games with Clarkson imo is he still hasnt got much practice time, ???

He's not closing games because he's a scorer and Donovan/Bogey are our closers offensively. We want the ball in their hands more often than not. And when it's not in their hands it's better off in the hands of Joe or Mike because not only can than score but they can pass and defend too. Clarkson is not the best passer or defender.

So some defensive things that are bothering me after rewatching the last 6 games...

- Somebody needs to tell DM and Clarkson that they can (and SHOULD) go over or under a screen. They need to stop running through screens and taking themselves out of the play. Running into the screen just leaves our big defending 2 v 1.

- Angles. This is one of the biggest problems with our perimeter D recently. Instead of forcing offensive players where we want them we're letting them get where they want. Ex- In that first Portland game Royce let Dame go right just about every time. We MUST be more disciplined defensively.

- Rotations. Let's just say they haven't been great. Our help defense has been lazy. We've also made some extremely boneheaded decisions on who we rotate off of. Ex- Donovan leaving CJ to try and contest Dame way too late allowing CJ to hit a 3 and tie the game in the 4th last night.

- Communication. We go through stretches where it seems like nobody is talking, nobody is signaling for help.

In summary we just need to be smarter defensively. We've seen this group play good defense. But it takes execution.

That was a bad call. The Jazz get a freebie on that play. Gobert reputation made them swallow the whistle. It is like MJ in the day but now Gobert gets it on defense.
Jazz earned this hard fought victory. Gobert really has no shot but still gave maximum effort to make the play. Most other players would’ve just watched seeing the play out of reach. Cheers big guy!!!

Brantley can play in 45 games including the playoffs right?

I have this gut feeling we're going to see more of Morgan at the backup 5 as the season goes. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brantley finally play some at the backup 4 too.

Quin always seems to keep tricks up his sleeve for later in the season. Both of these guys are mobile bigs who have been strong defenders in the gleague.

No. He has 45 days with the team total. That includes practice days.

I trust him to get a bucket more than anyone else on the team. At any level.

I’ll wait patiently offline for your next novel of a reply.

Yup, like I said, he scores a lot. And that's all. Sorry you cant read a full paragraph without crying about it.

Looking ahead to Houston. I hope Snyder forces more Joe/ Rudy action again.

Rudy needs to dominate their small ball lineups, both offensively and on the boards.
