2020 Presidential election

Sanders is just too ideological. I want the ideologues in think tanks and serving advisory roles. I don't want our President to be a ****ing "Democratic Socialist" I just don't.

I think he would have one of the most ineffective terms of any President and would lose the office to a Republican in 2024. He'd just be too inflexible. He'd get nothing passed because he wouldn't compromise.

If you want the best of what Sanders can do, support Warren. She can compromise and work to get the best possible outcome rather than fighting and dying for the perfect possible outcome.

agreed. And this article only highlights how Sanders is going to doom us to another 4 years of Trump.

@Zombie have you read this?

Sanders is such a bad candidate. We now have two respected posters, @Gameface and @colton who have brought up concerns about him. Colton even said that he wouldn’t vote for sanders. Which is sad, moderates and desenfranchised Republicans should be our target demographic to retain the House and retake the senate and White House.

I wish my fellow Democrats could understand why Trump is licking him chops to face Sanders. Unfortunately, there’s no much I can do. We’re sadly going to see another 4 years of Trump. And with sanders at the top of the ticket, I wouldn't be surprised to see few gains in the senate (collins and Gardner are probably gone. But so is doug jones) and losses in the House.

Red scaring, Thriller? Really? If that’s the worst they’ve got, then I’m far from worried. Support from disenchanted Republicans and moderates is great if your goal is to continue the failed neoliberal tradition of the last thirty years. I don’t think it is up to challenges this country faces wrt wealth inequality and climate change. I mean right now these types and the Dem establishment are rallying around Mike Bloomberg ffs. Kind of goes to show how shallow their dislike of Trump really is, and frankly is making me hesitant to even call myself a democrat.

Also Trump isn’t looking forward to facing Bernie.

Bernie passed his plan with mike Lee in this horrible senate you speak of.
Bernard gets the goods.

bernie is a good person and a far better candidate than trump.

However, Im curious as to how anyone thinks a single bernie plan will be passed by a Mitch McConnell controlled senate? Even if Dems retake the senate, they won’t have close to the 2/3rds necessary to pass anything. If/When Trump loses, Republicans will return to being the fiscal hawks/obstructionists/Monday morning quarterbacks that they were for most of Obama’s presidency.

and the American public is so utterly brain dead that they’ll blame Democrats for the deadlocked government and they'll smother Democrats in the 2022 midterms. By Jan 2023, Democrats will probably have lost the Senate and House majorities and Bernie will be a lame duck president.

Who do you think he wouldn't beat though?

He'll beat anyone in the current field of Democrats. I think the Dems' best play would be to run a moderate like Klobuchar and try to convince women that they shouldn't lose to a chauvinist two times in a row. I'm not sure it would work, but it would give women, who comprise the majority of voters, a rallying point. The issue is that Trump is no longer just a chauvinist anymore. He's been a fairly successful conservative president.

Bernie already has moved the conversation forward. I just don’t think he expands the electorate nor do I think he’s electable. Especially in swing states. I agree with the traditional strategists who believe that Sanders makes it much harder for Democrats to retain control of the House and win the senate and White House.

tons of evidence that he’s expanding the Hispanic electorate— either this is naivety from your end, or your electorate expansion doesn’t take into account certain races. Not sure which is worse

What bill are you referring to? The military intervention one? So why are you bringing this up? What relevance does it have?

yeah what relevance does funding forever-wars have in an American country that doesn’t guarantee free health care

There's polls for that buddy. Bernie beats Trump.

In national polls, of which there are several per day, where Independents and Republicans have zero motivation to participate. State polls are more reflective of how the individual states will vote, and even those normally underestimate Trump voters.

Bernie might win the usual New York, Calif, Washington, Oregon, Illinois maybe. Throw in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Dems could probably run Spongebob and win those states. Bernie won't get much past 200 electoral votes, if he gets that far.

dude, you’re a firm Bernie bro believer. We get it. You’ve downed the Kool-aid. But Bernie gives trump 4 more years because swing states aren’t Bernie states. They are and will be scared to death once Sinclair, Fox News, am radio, and Fox News play Commie Bernie clipps 24/7. The coalition we’ve built up of moderates, women, and desenfranchised republicans will return to their Republican home (or won’t show up) if Bernie is at the top of the ticket.

you’re right. You’re going to have to connect the dots better for me to understand it’s relevance. Please do because I’m truly confused w out the point you’re trying to make here.

bernie polls better with independents than all of your **** stain neolib candidates

Nah, I was in Warrens camp until fairly recently. I’m to your left I’m sure but there wasn’t any kool aid involved in that. I’ve pointed out to you before that Bernie polls great against Trump in swing states, but you don’t wanna hear it.

let me connect the dots real nice for you— a series of failsons and megalomaniacs from the DNC have all decided to run in the centrist lane for the democratic nomination, clearing the path for a bernie victory— because they all have **** for brains and are thoroughly unqualified to be a president in 2020.

bernie will win, beat trump (as the vast amount of polls indicate), and you’ll have to tolerate people calling him the best president in history for the rest of your life.

I think we should relax a little bit with the polling data when there’s still 5+ Democrats who are in competition to win the nomination (one who hasn’t even appeared on the ballot yet has spent hundreds of millions in advertising).

Traditionally speaking, swing states that we must win have large coalitions of conservatives and historically don't desire great changes to the economy when it’s already doing so well.

This is a good response to my snarky one. I apologize and Well played.

Go talk to a family in Flint about how the economy is doing well. Headass.

I wouldn’t be so sure about him beating Bernie. Bernie’s momentum would just get stronger by the day until election day.

Frankly, I think Bernie is the guy he’s most afraid of. Trump is all about personal attacks, there’s no dirt on Bernie as far as I’m concerned.

All Trump and the Republicans have to say is, "He's a socialist." That's it. It's over. Trump will call him a "crazy socialist," but it's the same thing. It's not as bad as Reagan vs. Fritz Mondale, but there are a few similarities.

State polls are tricky, especially this far out, but I wouldn’t be quite so confident if I were you.
