College Football Week 1 Discussion

And there it is folks they went for it and got a TD up by 10 with 3 and half min left, dare I say that's the ball game folks.

Onside kick recovery. Auburn finally dominated like an SEC school who gets 4 and 5 star recruits should dominate.

would you rather get blown out or blow a big lead like that? ouch

blown out easy
No way. I'd much rather lose the way Utah State lost. Sure, it's painful in the here and now, but it's something to build on. They know just how good they can be. They outplayed Auburn for all but 3 minutes. Even then, without that onsides kick recovery, Utah State wins it. Now the coaches can use that as a very powerful teaching moment. I hate the term "moral victory", and Utah State even surpassed that. A moral victory would have been to hang with them for a half. What Utah State did was set up big things for the rest of the year.

Hmmm.

Maybe the next 2 weeks won't be as brutal for Utah as I first thought......

first half USC looked like they were going to blow them out, Barkley was looking like a heisman winner, than a bad snap in the 2nd half and they looked bad after that. crazy how momentum can shift, i think they felt lucky just to escape that game. I don't know if it makes me feel any more confident, who knows what USC team shows up next saturday

In all honesty, I don't think Minnesota is much better than Montana State. Wynn is still a huge concern (and probably will be all season), but the Utes will have John Cullen back at LT and I think they might be able to run the ball. It also doesn't hurt that Whit's coaching IQ is probably 100 points higher than that of Kiffin's. Still going to be a tough one for Utah, but USC looks extremely human after that performance.

From what we've seen the QB is a big difference maker in the pac-10/12, we saw USC were running some no huddle pretty well that can be tough on a defense at times..Wynn's going to have play well cause we can't count on USC self destructing like they kind of did in the 2nd half vs Minnesota. Barkley and USC did look really good in the 1st half.

Agreed. I think Wynn will make it so it's hard to feel extremely confident about any game for the rest of the season. With that being said, even if he only slightly improves, this Utah team can win games if he plays smart and doesn't turn the ball over. Utah may have to rally around the formula of running the ball, playing solid defense and not turning the ball over.

wow Oregon State just lost their home opener vs a Big Sky team that finished lower than Montana State last year.

oh and Kirk Herbstreit's pick to be in the pac-12 title game - UCLA lost to Houston

not the best showing by pac-12 today, see how Oregon does vs. LSU

Florida State with the shutout. The domination's begun. A National Title in the next 3-4 years is a lock. Top five recruiting class last year, better recruiting class coming this year (thank you Miami, we already have 3 of the top 13 players nationally and six of the top 34 or so with only about half having committed)...good luck everyone else.
