Getting diddled by Hayward: a game thread

I'd keep Donovan, Clarkson and Bogey. The rest, give them the pink slip. And Rudy, gets so clumsy and spaces out. Why? He could've grown out of that already but isn't.

Tear most of it down and build around Donovan. You gotta have continuity and switchable players so keep Joe and Royce.

Trade Rudy before he leaves or gets overpaid
Dump Conley
Take a good deal for Bojan if it exists

I would keep Rudy. I would keep Bojan. I would keep Royce. I would reduce Joe Ingles' role. The Jazz are actually just one player away, imo, but that player is an athletic, dynamic wing who can shoot, pass, drive and defend at a high level.

You only get to keep Mitchell and Bogey. Clarkson is a free agent, and without a massive overpay, do you really think he's coming back to this mess?

Watching them just stand around while the other team get the offensive rebounds is too painful to see. So lazy and overrated at this point. Donovan tried his hardest but the rest didn't give a f**k.

We played like 2.75 quarters of solid basketball tonight... I am pleasantly surprised... and that is where our season is at.

We shot like dog ****... they came out slow and we let them build a lead with a slow start... margins are thin against good teams if you don’t take those opportunities to build a lead or at least stay on pace then you leave yourself open to being down big when Smart hits 3 threes in a row. I did think the defense was somewhat better.

Thiught Niang and TB were really good. Royce was solid. DM obvi great but his outside shot was bad but

JC was off...
Bojan is waaaay off
Jingles is off
Not sure why Rudy can’t catch a pass or hold the ball or bother people much in the paint but he was pretty damn bad by his standards.

not sure if it’s a Quin gameplan thing but the play where two guys pass to each other in a meaningless fashion and then the ball handler backs up and takes a super ****** shot as the clock expires is just not ideal.

I know the defense is the biggest issue right now, but we don't really even run the blender anymore offensively. We pretty much just give it to Mitchell, Conley, Bogey or Clarkson and let them go one on one. It's just not as fun to watch, too much dribbling. What happened to our ball movement?

Teams figured us out and Snyder is failing to adjust. Teams are switching everything and not respecting mismatches with Rudy.

Well I think we did, but not exactly a high bar set by the last few games. If we shoot barely our season average from 3 and Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown only make 2 out of their 5 difficult 3s is this forum saying "We're back, baby!" even if we gave the same effort?

I think you've more or less captured my sentiment. Conley was supposed to be our one player away guy. That's the tragedy of this season.

Lament no Rubio on a nightly basis but what can you do, in general I like the make-up this team very much. At the very least we are a given to make the playoffs, but unfortunately I'm not seeing contender any more. (next win streak will surely change my mind again)

Separate thought(s):
-Rudy is the the pillar of this team IMO. Lose anyone else for any reason and I think it's absorb-able but Rudy is what makes us formidable on any given night. Don't understand how we've lost so much faith in him overnight. (after he was an allstar selection no less)
-Like Bogey, potential game breaker, but when most of your value is based on your shooting you have to expect the odd problematic night. I'm ok with that.
-LOVE Clarkson. I think he's nearly indispensable at this point. Revolutionized our bench.
-Mitchell seems to have some maturity issues (on court only;ball managment/poor shot selection) that are starting to get on my nerves. Getting his numbers but on balance not helping us win at the moment.
-Royce is a bonafide starter but not Allstar. Gets a good performance evaluation from me.
-Screw Conley:mad::rolleyes:

Miscellaneous: Mudiay really pulled his socks up over the course of the season. Not a key piece but boy do I like him.

I saw Clarkson's night as mediocre, not actively bad. Bojan's was decidedly sub-par. Bojan has been incredible at times this season and Clarkson IS the bench. Both are really nice pieces but I miss "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" feel of last years team. The starters used to play up to the competition not down and the bench was deep as faack, though on paper our stars are brighter and theoretically we are still deepish. Regardless I miss the chemistry of last years team. Sigh/shrug.

Not really mad at anyone tonight except Conley who I am always mad at anyway, just disappointed.
