College Football Week 1 Discussion

Plus some guys just can't get it done on college fields for some reason. See: Sam McGuffie as the prime example going right now. Absolutely freakish Youtube highschool video....goes to Michigan....transfers to Rice....now he is like the 2nd or 3rd string tailback there and only ran for 4 yards on Saturday. It doesn't make any sense based on purely physical tools. SEC "speed" and "size" are overrated. Those teams are constantly being pushed around and ran around by teams that are supposedly inferior.

Maybe sometimes, but the LSU vs Oregon game was great example. LSU's defense it ridiculously fast and strong.

Yeah, I didn't see that game but there is always 1 or 2 SEC teams that really put it together and look really fast and good, but the rest of them look like average football teams.

It's just funny hearing things like when J.J. Dilugi was trying to hit the corner on a run the announcers said, "You can't do that in the SEC." Like BYU has never played anyone that had enough speed on defense to contain a ****ing corner.....I'm guessing they had problems hitting the corner against their own linebackers in fall camp who are likely faster than anybody Ole Miss has.

Or they kept talking about how BYU hasn't beat a SEC team since 2001 like we've been playing them 6 times a year for the past decade and just have been so overwhelmed by their superior athletes that we couldn't get the job done; when in reality we haven't played any of them since 2001, only 5 times total, won twice, and 2 of the 3 losses were by less than a touchdown.

Yeah, even though my team is apart of the SEC, I still find it incredibly annoying when we play any out of conference team and the announcers say stuff like that after every play.

I thought the same thing when I heard that.
 
Good god those are the ugliest things I have ever seen. Whoever designed those should be fired.
 
I have seen their other jerseys (they have a whole line of new ones this year) and some of them look pretty good, these just have way too much going on. Half of my friends think they look good, so don't feel too bad Archie.
 
I seriously can't watch this game for more than 5 minutes at a time. I find myself getting pissed at the TV trying to follow those hideous uniforms.
 
LSU's defense is scary good. If their QB can play Trent Dilfer like by not screwing things up, they'll be in the NC game this year.

Maybe.

I didn't see Alabama play. Maybe if I had seen them, I'd be clamoring about how great Bama's defense looked.

I did see LSU, and that team looked like they were in mid-season form already. They're so quick to the ball, they're going to injure some QBs this year.

They tore Oregon up. I also have a gut feeling that this LSU team is for real now that they're going with Trent Dilfer instead of JaMarcus Russel. I think they have the motivation to prove their critics wrong. I'm not sure if Alabama has the experience to beat them. We'll see.

LSU has to go on the road against Alabama. That could be epic.

My only problem with LSU, especially if Jarret Lee is going to start all year, is if they get behind early.
