ESPN's NBA2K Tournament Is Must See TV

Look, I am a man's man. The only time I touched a video game was when I picked it up and threw it out the window at a friend's house. Real men don't play video games. We watch them.

And ESPN has put together a goofy tournament for us real men to watch: 8 NBA guys (including Donovan Mitchell) are competing against each other in video game basketball. I figured I'd give it two minutes of my time. But no. I have watched in their entirety the first two games of the tournament. It's a blast. What makes it fantastic is:

The two players get to talk to each other while they play. Trash talk or interesting b-ball talk is the order of the day. First game had Durant as the Clippers vs. the guy who won the Slam Dunk contest, Derrick Jones playing as the Bucks. Two relatively quiet guys, but good enough talk for an hour's entertainment. Best part was KD **** all over the Bucks DiVincenzo. The DiVincenzo little computer guy was having a good game and killing KD's team, so KD angrily said, "Man, they got DiVincenzo playing like he's an All Star." Ouch! That was cold. And when Duncan Robinson missed a shot playing on Zack Levine's computer team, Levine snidely said, "That Duncan Robinson hit six threes against us in Chicago."

Look, recounting the fun is hard to do. Just watch the damn show. It is pretty darn fun, and maybe you can see Donovan Mitchell win a title. (His first game is Saturday I believe.)

This year is over. We didn't do so well. But....

We did win the Championship in 2018. Think about that, our e-boys have more Championships than your NBA guys. Why would you ask about our e-league Knicks when you knew the answer would humiliate you further. Wasn't losing today to our D-League team enough humiliation for you? Now you know our e-boys have won more Championships than your NBA-guys.

I saw some of the Trae Young game. The players didn't say anything of interest and it got boring watching Kyle Korver and George Hill miss their shots.

But I plan to watch Donovan on Sunday.

The Trae Young game was alright. Laid back. But....

This guy really is a first class *** hole:

Folks, you haven't seen anything until you see (hear) Pat Beverley play video basketball. You think he is a schmuck on the court? Wait till you see how he behaves playing a video game. He started out quiet as hell, but then his medication ran out and he became a loon. My God, the guy was bitching about calls (and when the opponent missed their free throw, of course Beverley was yelling, "Ball Don't Lie!" He was trash talking ("I'm going to beat him by 30. I'm gonna beat him by 30") and screaming and yelling and jumping out of his chair over every play. He even quoted major loon Mike Tyson! Not only that, his opponent was saying video Giannis was doing great, but Bevereley had to take the credit away from Giannis. "No, it ain't Giannis. I'm controlling him. I'm controlling him."

Beverley won the game so he has another one coming up. I am telling you, make sure you watch it. Beverley is hilarious.

A two minute clip has been posted already. Check it out and laugh your *** off.

Yeah, moron, how about you try controlling our friggin' first round pick Frank Ntilikina. You think Frank The Frenchman is going to get you 40 and 15 rebounds? God himself could be controlling him and Frank The Frenchman would still go 2 for 15.

It was all Giannis in that game, moron. I watched the whole game. Antetokounmpo was a monster in that game against the Lakers. One of his best games I ever saw him play.

You are only allowed to use a team once. It's a cool rule. Three guys already have burned the Bucks. If Mitchell can win his first round game with Boston, he has a chance to win the tournament. But looking at the twitter photo above, it looks like Mitchell hasn't put down the Bucks as an option. That decision is going to cost him the title.

See if Vegas is taking bets on this one and put all you have on the Japanese Hachimura. Hell, they invented the video game. The damn video game gene is in their DNA over there. Yes. They even announced in pre-game there are no injuries in this tournament. The guy running the tournament does some pre-game, halftime, and post-game stuff. Even he said he was disappointed that Durant didn't play as Brooklyn. He said it would have been nice to see for the first time Kyrie and Durant together.

My God, Rudy Gobert single-handedly shut down the entire world. And you want him now to participate in a fun tournament? I'd say Rudy should just lay low for a long while. No soup for him. One day maybe four or five years from now we will welcome Gobert back into society, but as for now, no soup for him.
