NBA playoffs, info from Woj

Last year’s Nuggets say Hi HH!
that was a competitive matter though... rigging a matchup is different than draft position... so they were playing to win but playing the long game.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but LaMarcus Aldridge underwent rotator cuff surgery and is done for the season.

So I wonder how the minute distributions will play out and who ends up starting. I've heard Locke mention a few times that he could see them putting Niang in the starting lineup to keep Joe in his bench role and maybe by pairing Niang with Rudy his defense won't be as bad.

We really needed one more athletic wing or athletic switchy 4 before the Bojan injury... Now we really need it. I heard that there will be a transactional period where guys can be signed and two way guys could be converted. I'd love to see Brantley get converted and then waive NWG. I could see them using Tucker as the wing type but he's kinda small for that role and he never looked good with the varsity squad. Likely gonna see some JC, Conley, DM lineups... its going to be difficult to piece together... I'm sure Quin is in the lab figuring it all out.

Can basketball just start now?

I was trying to find some positives looking forward to Jazz performance in playoffs and I came up with two. Firstly without Bojan there will be less pressure on the team, nobody expects them to win it all anymore so maybe that wil allow them to make some pleasant surprises? Second is the fact that Joe should be well rested so hopefully he will be able to have more impact that he had in the last postseason.

Also for every Jokic or Gasol there are a handful of Al Jefferdad's. IMO we have the right amount of post play in the league atm. I would agree to expanding the court a smidge because the corners are two short and then you could push the line back a bit... the idea would not be to get less threes though, but to create more space.

Obviously. No one’s said threes are dumb. But imo, the dependency on them for team success is a bit much. As is the rate at which people are hitting them now imo. Even if it’s moved back just 8 inches, that would be cool.

It will always be a make or miss league though... 97-98 we shot like 22% from 3 in the finals.

No extreme changes need to be made to the game. I'd eliminate charges and try new things to eliminate rule bending/flopping.

If they really wanted to bring the post game back it wouldn't be through moving the 3 point line... they could just call the game in the post like they do on the perimeter. If someone grazes Harden's forearm as he pushes it into their arms its a foul... in the post guys drive their bodies and arms into guys hips/legs and its basically a wrestling match that doesn't get called a lot. Its part of the reason short guys like PJ Tucker are so effective at post defense... they are allowed get into guys and move them... sometimes as they are shooting.
