Haven’t seen this discussed here. Yesterday they found they confirmed that the remains found on Chad’s property belong to Lori’s two missing children.

Some of the reaction to this story over time has reminded me of some contingents following the Josh Powell story. You’d have people in comment sections decrying them being presumed guilty by the public and digging in their heels.

I've heard that. What would his motive be for killing the kids though? Just a blind follower of Daybell's looney cult? Why would he kill her ex husband? I can't seem to find any solid reasoning he is involved at all unless he is just gullible AF and will do whatever she tells him to do without question.
 
This story was weird, but it was so damn obvious what had happened. They should have investigated her when her brother murdered her husband in "self-defense". The kids being caught in this is so sad and unfortunate... they had other family that gladly would have taken them if they wanted to run off and become gods or whatever they hell they were into. I think she might be legitimately crazy and may have realized she doesn't have super powers in prison and maybe her kids weren't zombies.

He killed the ex husband and admitted to it... said he shot him in self defense. He did whatever sis wanted... then he died suddenly too iirc.

I heard a neighbor called the police about bonfires that started happening after Chad’s wife died. They almost implied that’s what got the ball rolling on this.

That wouldn't seem like anything close enough to give them a search warrant though, no? Bonfires in rural Idaho are not odd or uncommon.

I just feel like everyone dropped the ball here... I think there was no autopsy on the wife and now she is being exhumed. I read several stories and watched the 48 hour specials so some of this is running together.

She was exhumed 6 months ago. I dont think the results have been released though.
 
Not surprising the children are dead. What is amazing is that these two thought they could get away with it? Overall, just a sad story about the evilness of humans and the sad story of those who are in their path. I hope the children didn't suffer too much.

There was enough shenanigans around these two that they should have been under investigation prior to the kids disappearing... feels like they could have been saved. It’s no wonder they thought they could get away with it... already did a couple times without a sniff of any suspicion.

I don't think they really expected to get away with it. I think they expected the rapture or whatever to happen before it mattered that they would be caught.

And to think this all happened last fall. Imagine how vindicated they must feel with the world tipping upside down with COVID and now civil unrest.
 
I believe July 22 is the date that the rapture or whatever is supposed to occur. I suppose they are sitting smugly in their cells thinking this will all be over in a month. Wonder how smug they will be on July 23?

And how do you get so messed up that you kill your kids because you believe they turned into zombies?

July 23 is when the reinterpretation starts. That’s where it becomes a “spiritual” end of the world. People don’t just pack up and go home with deeply entrenched beliefs. Then again, we’re assuming a lot in what they actually believe. Could very well even be that they took an extension of what they believed to rationalize their own selfish desires and felt they had some kind of spiritual deniability by convincing themselves that they actually believed it.
