The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Yeah, that can absolutely be translated as Trump not caring how many Americans die from Covid-19. Testing revealed positives, leading to quarantines, and fewer cases. Also leading to contact tracing, and fewer cases. His call to slow down testing leads to more deaths. And this is funny exactly how?

I would hope, at his next presser, whether formal, or on a tarmac, or wherever, that reporters press him on this “joke”. I want to hear him, or any of his spokespeople, explain the joke. What exactly was the punch line of this joke? Why did the audience not laugh? And do not let him brush the question aside. If he does, next reporter up presses the issue: please explain what the punch line was; what was the humor in what you said, sir?

Did a prank help derail Trump’s rally?

President Trump’s campaign promised huge crowds at his rally in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, but it failed to deliver. Hundreds of teenage TikTok users and K-pop fans say they’re at least partially responsible.

TikTok users and fans of Korean pop music groups claimed to have registered potentially hundreds of thousands of tickets for Mr. Trump’s campaign rally as a prank. After the Trump campaign’s official account @TeamTrump posted a tweet asking supporters to register for free tickets using their phones on June 11, K-pop fan accounts began sharing the information with followers, encouraging them to register for the rally — and then not show.

Many users deleted their posts after 24 to 48 hours in order to conceal their plan and keep it from spreading into the mainstream internet. “The majority of people who made them deleted them after the first day because we didn’t want the Trump campaign to catch wind,” Mr. Daniel said. “These kids are smart and they thought of everything.”

what did you think of him running the Bernie playbook against Biden tonight? I mean, it sounds like “the far left” is using Biden and comrades Cortez and Omar are going to have prominent cabinet positions. They may form a “Soviet” to burn down churches and oil rigs. Trump even said that comrade Cortez hates windmills!

I’ll be honest, that didn’t seem to really land well in Tulsa. I mean, it didn’t seem like even they were buying that ****. I don’t think painting Biden as a radical socialist is working.

trumps Spends millions attacking Biden aS Biden extends his lead.

what’s that smell?

Desperation

The first problem is that his base perceives it as a joke (or a non-serious or -binding comment).

The second problem is the inability to reach these people through established institutions or even communication platforms, in general. You know... reach them, and then reason through our problems together. In a very real sense, they appear hardened into their position. Shaming certainly hasn’t seemed like an effective tool in changing minds.

Well, he beat Hillary, who was a much stronger candidate than Biden is.

hillary is one of the worst candidates ever, forget her qualifications for the job. She ran idiotic campaigns filled with obvious blunders. I have no expertise and I watched her ignore the states that Would have won her the election and she thought she had in the bag while she arrogantly wanted to run up the score in places like Arizona.

She had huge baggage and giant unfavorables. And she had low likability.

I voted for her because I had no choice.

Hillary had to run a perfect campaign against virtually anyone. For over a decade polls consistently showed there was a solid block of about 40-42% of voters that found her un-likeable. And this included a ton of working class men and women. So instead of addressing the red flags in the primaries (e.g. losses in blue collar states like Michigan, West Virginia and Wisconsin) she decided to surround herself with 30-something yes-people to blow sunshine up her *** and continue to take photo ops with celebrities on the coasts.

Catchall has a point though - as in 2016, I believe there is still a significant block of voters that are pro-Trump and are not showing up in these polls - mainly investment class whites that feel Trump will do whatever he can to keep rigging the system and turn the country into a socialist corporatocracy and who don't want to be associated with the *******s that show up to his rallies.

If the percentages are within the margin of error late October/early November then I'd be very worried.

I wish the Trumpers who see him as an economic ally would understand one thing:

Trump did nothing but dump gas on OBAMA’S ECONOMY. He was doing nothing but over-heating certain economic strengths that he inherited. And history is clear: those actions eventually steer us into a correction (Coronavirus has just delivered us to this point more quickly than we would have been otherwise been delivered).

If Trump has a secret cohort, I fear it’s a clique of douchebags who feel like they’ve hacked into some kind of logic where they believe they can profit from his brand of chaos—essentially shorting certain sectors of the economy and then pivoting and picking the right time to go on stock-buying sprees. I mean, **** civic duty, right?

I think Trump can easily lose this next election. It's going to take the 18 - 25 year-old demographic to seal his fate. The thing that worries me is I feel a lot of these kids will put more effort into bitching online about Trump and not actually voting to get him out of office. I sure hope they prove my doubt wrong.

Hopefully, the world will become a better place without him in office.

**** it... who am I joking... this **** ain’t new.

Am I the only one that's gets bugged by how much emphasis the president AND the media and puts on crowd size? Like, grow the **** up already, no one cares.

It's disheartening that the Lincoln Project Campaign is doing the same damn thing like this is some high school popularity contest.

If Trump had a huge turnout, I guarantee the headlines would be about Covid 19 and how wreckless it is to meet in large groups. That's what it still should be. Like, **** those people for meeting in such a large group with Covid speaking. How can a headline of Trump's crowd size is small put the focus where it needs to be?

Gawd damn it.

I'm with ya. I don't care if his turnout for his rallies are large or small.

I think the media (and political peeps) are focusing on it for 2 reasons:

1. It could show a lack of enthusiasm. It could also show concern over the pandemic. Both of which are key in this fall. Especially since Republicans have decided to wage a war in mail-in voting. If even his cult has concerns over the virus, maybe they should ease up on the attacks on mail-in voting?

2. Political pundits especially are trying to get under his skin. Rick Wilson and George Conway admitted that they’re trying to occupy his mind. If Trump is wasting time explaining why he can’t drink with one hand or why he took 10 mins to walk down a ramp, it means he has less time to attack his opponent. When you want him to lose, this is a fantastic. His inability to stay on message and present the country with a re-election vision is news. And welcome
News. I’d be afraid if he actually proposed solutions to problems.

As someone who wants him to lose, I’m totally fine with him spending 2 hours explaining away the latest meaningless attack that he saw from CNN, Morning Joe, SNL, or Lincoln Project. Less time for him to attack Biden or give us a re-election message. Just keep diggin that hole deeper Donald!

He is so impossibly good at pandering to his audience. It's extremely impressive tbh.
You should consider altering the terms by which you’re impressed.

I would say this even if he weren’t just repeating 2016 memes; but it’s especially true because he is. Pull your head out.

Regarding the first problem, it was not delivered as a joke at all. But, no way his base will ever interpret it as a reason to criticize him.

Regarding the second problem, I think establishing himself as a victim is virtually foolproof as a way to prevent anyone from reaching his base, reasoning with his base. Any and every criticism of him can be immediately interpreted as him being victimized once again. Once he cemented that construct, his base never has to examine any of the criticisms. They all become examples of his enemies attacking him, examples of fake news, nothing presented ever has to be examined for its actual content, or judged for its veracity. By becoming the victim, he eliminates any need his followers might otherwise have to actually....think. They no longer have to use their own minds to think. His victimhood has created an impenetrable barrier that the truth simply can not penetrate. It’s diabolical. And at that stage, it’s a cult.

Agree. I’d just add that the role of the victim is an extension of the role of the Political Outsider that right wing media outlets and republican coalitions have been cultivating since the 60s. This is a deep problem.

This should get sickening very fast. Tik Tok is a Chinese owned platform. Even though this has every earmark of a grassroots trolling campaign, look for the right to spin this as a "China is colluding with the left because they support Bejing Joe story."
