thee jazz fan’s team Writeup:

As you can see from my lineup, it’s complete position-less basketball. Everyone on my team other than Exum and Kelley can shoot.

My team has a great mix of defense and offense. Both Sefolosha and Russell are two of the best 3&D players to play for the jazz. Pistol Pete is in the conversation as one of the best offensive players of non the greatest in jazz history. His running Mate George Hill is the perfect fit next to Pistol as he doesn’t need to dominate the ball, and is more in the mold of Chauncey Billups type pg. Spencer Haywood is a HOF player. He may only be 6-8 225lb’s but he came into the league playing C, and spent time throughout his career playing it. He’s athletic and quick, take his man to the hole and hit from 20ft and in.

Rotation

Haywood will spend a portion of the game at pf. Kelley is a good defender with good touch inside (15pts per game)

Exum will spend plenty of time making DWill’s life miserable. Hill will get the quick pull 5 minutes in nd come back in to run point when Pistol comes out. I will Russell and split time at both sf and pf

Team strategy:

My team wants to play a fast pace type style. Pistol and Haywood running a fast break will be a thing of beauty both Fes and Kanter will be run out of the gym, not to mention both are already horrible defenders. We will also exploit the defensive deficiencies of his bigs in the half court using pick’n roll. Seeing as I will have 4 shooters most of the time the paint will be wide open. Pistol with how talented a playmaker he is will make manbun’s team pay the price for drafting two lurches. Obviously the offense runs through Pistol Pete.

Wes Mantooth’s team writeup:

Lineup

Deron Williams-Derek Fisher
Joe Ingles
Demarre Carroll-Bernard King
Joe Johnson
Enes Kanter-Krylyo Fesenko

I’m starting Kanter. Spencer Haywood was 6’8”, 225 and would get absolutely manhandled and destroyed down low in all ways. With four out and a great combo of ball handling, shooting and defense 1-4, Kanter is really a great blend with my other four starters. Fes will come in early, around the 7 minute mark and I plan on quick 5:00-6:00 rotations between he and Fes depending on need and situation.

Haywood was 6’8”, 225. Kanter and Fes will destroy him. Plus the rest of my team is simply better.

This basically comes down to how much you believe in the ancients translating to the modern-day. If you do, Thee has substantially more firepower. If you don’t, it’s Wes pretty easily.

I don’t know how I feel, except that I don’t know that I have enough info to say anything conclusive about most earlier players most of the time. Pistol would be a great shooter today and I think his game would largely translate (although even then, I’m not sure he’s a winner since his teams didn’t, he was inefficient, didn’t play defense, and played an absurd 42 minutes a game to get those numbers).

Fun tidbit on Pistol’s shooting; the NBA introduced the 3-pointer at the end of his career, so of course he hardly shot them. However, he shot an absolutely ridiculous >60% when he did.

I don’t ****ing get it, not one person voted for me. My team is ****ing talented. An amazing mix of offense and defense, a complete team with interchangeable parts.

I understand I could lose, but not one ****ing vote?
