Coronavirus

Don't know about you guys, but Americans are the dumbest and most arrogant people in the world. That's not a D and R issue, overall as a populace, the world thinks we're idiots.

Other countries are light years ahead of us as their citizens actually worked together to turn the tide. Their economies are also re-opening at a faster clip - imagine that correlation.

Instead, it's almost July and we're still debating that wearing masks violate civil rights and the government can't tell me where to stand.

“....there’s a longstanding anti-science, anti-expertise streak in American culture — the same streak that makes us uniquely unwilling to accept the reality of evolution or acknowledge the threat of climate change.

"We aren’t a nation of know-nothings; many, probably most Americans are willing to listen to experts and act responsibly. But there’s a belligerent faction within our society that refuses to acknowledge inconvenient or uncomfortable facts, preferring to believe that experts are somehow conspiring against them.

"Trump hasn’t just failed to rise to the policy challenge posed by Covid-19. He has, with his words and actions — notably his refusal to wear a mask — encouraged and empowered America’s anti-rational streak.

"And this rejection of expertise, science and responsibility in general is killing us."

Hopefully a significant amount of that faction is taken out by this crisis so they no longer wield influence in our country anymore. Our entire country shouldn’t be brought to heel by this selfish, traitorous, and obstinate faction of morons. I’m sorry, but our economy is being trashed, our lives are being trashed, America’s reputation is being trashed, by these brain dead zombies. Grow up! I’m frankly tired of them working against science and our national interests.

This entire pandemic is being prolonged because we have a political party teamed up with morons who are actively rejecting science and ignoring experts because they don’t want to be told what to do. **** them

this is ****ing embarrassing:

Right? You visit KSL, Fox News, dnews and people are still arguing about masks. Just ****ing ridiculous.

The level of testing in Beijing is crazy. After the new breakout numbers climbed to 30 or 40 a day and they started mass testing. It's back in the single digits and hopefully will be cleared up soon. I drove past a park and saw 100s of thousands of people lined up for mass testing. There a test for every 5 people grouped together. But people here are glad to get tested they want to do anything to help fight this. Plus the testing is free.

Again, another example of how the US can’t get past ourselves. I’m pissed that Americans have self-entitlement and disregard for being asked to do something so easily as staying away from others and wearing masks when they go out.

I have zero doubt that we would be in a much better position if Trump would have implored mask use and spoke through actions, not words. His voters would have done the same and we would really have seen the decrease we’ve been yearning for.

I hope they’re happy - it’s going to cost them the election so good ****ing riddance.

Here people are complaining that people on unemployment are getting a $600 kicker right now and are happy it will be ending soon. Had a person on facebook say "they need to get back to work!" and it's like, bro, their jobs evaporated. There's no work for them to go back to.

we’re already cutting down on free testing. Even though the pandemic has never been worse in the south and west, we’ve declared the pandemic over because it’s inconvenient and Trump wants to focus on his re-election.

Just saw on KSL someone say, “I don’t want mandatory masks because what if a person is deaf and they rely on lip reading?”

Sigh

Worry about that bridge when we need to. But right now Utah is reaching a scary time. 66 percent of ICUs are full. That’s up from 48 percent just from Memorial Day.

This is what’s happening in Florida. Any idea why they’re becoming the epicenter of the virus?

The heavy dose of Fox News, Facebook, Perverse Christianity, and stupidity is literally killing us.

I think you’d see the numbers be even better if they did less testing!

My mother relies on reading lips to understand people, so others wearing masks makes things difficult for her. But she wears one and expects others to do so. She'd rather live than hear.

And not too many will die so sadly this will be believed by many to be a minor issue and in our rearview leading into the election.

If there really is a second wave, I’m guessing it won’t REALLY hit til after the election. Which is bad. Really, really bad.

I think I read the average age of new cases in Florida is 37. Lots of young people in hospitals now, but less need for ventilators. Sick enough for hospital, just not as sick as many earlier cases. Still, young asymptomatic people will end up killing more of their elders now...

The sooner she starts wearing her mask, the sooner the deaf, old, and sick will get to hang out with loved ones like she does.

Selfish.

I think the scars of this first wave have already run too deep. Some states will improve, others will degrade, etc.

Most major modeling states that deaths will start to uptick again in September - all forecasts are projections, not predictions, but if that were to occur, it wouldn't be helpful to the incumbent.

Run too deep? Everyone is out and about as if there is no virus. Trust me, we excel in having short term memories, ie, being ****ing idiots.

I don't think a statewide mask mandate is necessary for Utah, but definitely in metro areas and those with active cases. If you live in Garfield County and there's no active cases, a mask shouldn't be required, but not so if you're in a metro area or a rural area with outbreaks.

You can have a targeted plan that is agile and adapts based on what areas need the help.
