Tough Day To Be In Law Enforcement

You mean like “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”? Seems like the young man understood that pithy saying pretty well.

yes! Excellent point!

I think back to tom Cotton’s NY Times oped to slaughter blacks. Sure he painted over that rhetoric with “law and order.” But White supremacists understood what he meant. Law and order doesn’t actually mean following laws or restoring justice. It means subjugating minorities and slaughtering them if possible. It’s a shame that the privileged white and conservative NY Times editors didn’t see through that.

Had they understood the long history of inflammatory rhetoric, the likes of which you just brought up, their jobs would’ve been saved and perhaps these lives wouldn’t have been lost.

We are seeing the radicalizing of 40 percent of the American population before our eyes. Fox News, Facebook, and am radio are radicalizing Americans and Republican politicians

And we can bear in mind, Trump himself said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” in a tweet. Of course, his enablers, and I think Trump himself at the time, begged ignorance of the saying when Trump used it. And, although the shooter obviously looked up to Trump, bigly, I won’t draw a direct cause-effect relationship, unless the shooter left incontrovertible evidence to that effect. But, as has happened at other times where Trump is concerned, we should always remember that words do matter. Yet, so often, where his inflammatory rhetoric is concerned, we have been told, sometimes by Trump himself, that he was joking, or we are told we should not take him so seriously. I’m sorry, but he is the president of the United States, and he is both careless, and uncaring, with his own words.

The police in this town don’t seem to be very good. Blaming... the victims for the white supremacist shooting them? Ummm.

I don’t think these protesters are helping. I think they need to be better organized And far more articulate. They need to follow curfew and not give Trump the ammo he so desperately wants. But it seems weird how the protesters are being blamed for White supremacists shooting them. Am I missing something?

Yep....

17 year old went to a protest with his AR-15 and had his murder fantasy come true.

People defend the person with a murder fetish.

USA 2020

Yeah, he went looking for trouble and he found it. He's a moron. But also if you are getting your *** beat by a mob using weapons then I think it's fair game.

Sometimes I forget the assault laws laws don't apply if you are "protesting". I'm so bad with laws and rules.

Nothing good happens out on the streets late at night.

If you're comfortable with an untrained 17 year-old with an AR roaming the streets, you've got issues. If you're comfortable with people breaking and looting storefronts because they're pissed, you've got issues.

All of this is being fed by a government that just doesn't get it.
