Game Thread August 30, 2020: Nuggets at Jazz - Game 6

Added to Calendar: 08-30-20

I do not feel good about the Jazz going into game 7. They look defeated already.
Assuming Denver advances it is going to be really interesting to see how Murray looks against the Clippers. We may find out exactly how bad our defense is.

So glad we just signed Ingles and O’Neale to extensions...

I think Rudy makes the team play a notch or two below their ability on defense and I think that's kind of on purpose.
What do you mean by that? Team gets comfortable not playing D?

The amount of times Rudy had to contain Murray and get back to Jokic who hands off to Murray again with no defender around has been astounding. I would have expected Royce to do better.

I just remember Quin rearranging our whole ****ing defense in game one of a series to try and stop a guy from beating us... That was when we actually had a good defense... in this series he still plays drop big.... leaves Murray and Jokic with open shots all night long.

He needs to get some looser pants, some socks, and make some ducking adjustments.
I was thinking the same thing. We gave Harden the whole lane and it worked at times. This philosophy has been bonkers.

The rest of the team expects him to clean up, yes. I can see the argument for preserving yourself for the other side of the ball (Donovan) or preserving yourself generally (Joe), but Royce is here to do one ****ing thing and he has to fight harder at it.

I'm on the side of the people who say "trap him, send the double, get the ****ing ball out of his hands"

there are people who STAUNCHLY believe this is not an NBA strategy, and belongs in lower levels of basketball ONLY... and usually for the most part those people are correct, because the people calling for these tactics often are too quick to suggest such drastic measures...

HOWEVER, you may recall last year the Kings BLEW A 28POINT 4TH QUARTER LEAD, to the Nets and D'Angelo Russell was making everything, in moments like that I truly do belive it's appropriate to get the ball out of the players hands.

The reason why Rudy struggles in the playoffs is because he is one dimensional on offense and needs some one to pass him the rock near the basket. He has not developed a go to move and he can be pushed around and away from the basket. He is a streaky FT shooter. For the most part is is about 60 percent. He has really struggled with it in the bubble. Jazz fans just think the Jazz are more talented than they actually are. Jazz are undersized and can be pushed around. They have two starters who are reluctant to shoot the ball. Ingles and Royce. Both should be coming off the bench. Jazz need to move Boogie to the SF and find a 3pt shooting PF who can play defense and rebound some.

Rudy has to drop because Murray has a path at all times. Unless we put Morgan on Jokic and Rudy helps both sides but then they will either pull Rudy to weakside with Jokic post threat or he helps on Murray and Jokic gets easy looks.

Also, this team seems to be allergic to taking charges. I think this is a failure of the coaching staff/gameplan. If they emphasized rotations more and taking charges, you could have Rudy show more with more confidence.

I did feel like we got a poor whistle but we also have gotten sloppy at different parts of the last two games and it’s really cost us.
