What's new

Game Thread September 1, 2020: Jazz at Nuggets - Game 7

Added to Calendar: 09-01-20

Also, commissioner Silver has already stated that the target date of December first is looking less and less likely, and thinks there’s a better than good chance that date gets pushed back. He’s already said he doesn’t want a bubble next season. With that thought in mind, I would expect the start of next season to get pushed back some.
I think it is mid-Feb... hopefully flu season has died down and we have a vaccine. I also think we have to move past the elections before politicians can work together on any real changes.

They should start the season on Christmas Day. That's one of the biggest days for the NBA anyway.

That gives teams 3 more weeks than a December 1 start and 7 weeks after the election if that really has any bearing on the NBA.

If we resign Niang, I will quit being a jazz fan and root for the blazers and lillard

I'm cheering for us to win, but now I'm cheering for Niang having a career high and getting a cheap new contract next year. Thanks for pointing out multiple things I can look forward to. Hedging my bets!

This game is a microcosm for next year (whenever that happens): if the jazz run it back, they will lose.

No fans then... if they open up in the middle of flu season I'll be kinda pissed... don't sit here and tell me my kids can't go to school in the fall but basketball is back with fans in December... will confirm to me that the safety measures were part pandemic and part political media fuel.

By Christmas, the fall school term is over. It's completely realistic for the schools to announce they are going back into the schools in the spring semester. So the NBA starting the season in Christmas won't be that big of a conflict of interest. I'm willing to bet that there will be fans in the stands, but it will be around 25-33% capacity. Not perfect, but also not the bubble.

I'm befuddled.

Not sure what the answer to Murray is. Watching the highlights from the past three games, I almost think we have to hope that he just starts to miss.

Knowing what we know about the virus I think unless there is a vaccine then there will not be fans. It is spread indoors through aerosols... projecting your voice, singing, etc. make a lot of aerosols... nba game could be on par with bars as super spreading events.

Unless this is a completely political bull **** virus where the books have been cooked... then it would be highly irresponsible to have games until there is a vaccine or herd immunity. I think the response to the virus has been political and borderline insane in some cases. I think there is some book cooking going on (probably in both directions so maybe it evens out). Even if the Dems take office I can't see them doing such a hard turn here.

That's awesome
Literally like 2nd or 3rd row from the very top... so high you got dizzy. tickets were $12 a piece. I saw like 5 fist fights because some Denver fans had made their way to SLC.

Jerami Grant killing us is just to predictable. As soon as I saw that he was traded I was bummed out. I've liked him since that OKC series.

What if we had given last years pick for Grant, nixed the whole Conley thing, and put DM at PG? We have our future draft picks. Keep Allen and Crowder around for depth. And we have Grant who can be part of the Royce and Ingles wing rotation which is desperately needed right now.

Exactly the kind of player we need. Him being the x-factor to knock us out of the series is such a Jazz life thing.
I liked Grant first

Mitchell is dropping 50+ tonight. It’s a little insane that I would honestly be surprised if he doesn’t score atleast 40. He’s that good.

Say what you want about the bubble but you still have to make the shots. He’s 31-56 from 3 this series. Just absolutely insane.

DM needs to have a big night, but here’s a list of the guys I’m watching closest (in order):

*Ingles
*Clarkson
*Quin
*(I’m gonna put Morgan in this slot, because if he gets the time he deserves, he needs to be this high)
*Royce
*Mitchell
*Bradley (dude has totally disappeared).
