Steal now- Lauri Markkanen

I think there’s a diamond in the rough here. I think the bulls prior coaching, team systems and Selfish teammates were failure for him.
However he should have some skin in the game for not developing individually enough. That being said he’s very young and it’s still coming.

Would love the jazz to figure out a way to steal him now before he blossoms. Will at least get to the Porzingis level if put in the right environment.
I have no problem with a pick and Bogdanovic or something like it.

No thanks. Doesnt really fit the current timeline. Jazz need guys who are ready now for peak playoff basketball. Jazz dont need a worse version of Bogey with a few inches of aesthetic height and "potential".

Only reason to trade Bogey is either for more depth (Jazz dont really need that badly) or for a better defensive player who is competent offensively (read someone like Robert Covington).

I believe the reason everyone is looking at these fantasy trades dishing out for younger players with potential is because it is abundantly clear that the jazz are not good enough to build around the fringes and all rumors point to the next five years of shifting the build around gobert to around Mitchell. Teams like GS LA HOU are all getting older and the game is moving to a faster paced league. Jazz need to **** or get off the pot. I don’t think we got what it takes and I think we should be looking to get guys that are young and athletic to place around Mitchell. I’m for the trade.

I mean, we were one shot from advancing to the 2nd round against a team in the Clippers that was underperforming. The Jazz were missing their 3rd best player, so idk how it's abundantly clear, especially when the Jazz will get better next year just on the virtue of internal improvement and familiarity.

This is true. If we advance, there's a decent chance we knock off LAC and the way we conceptualize the team is completely different. We can certainly retool and be in the pack for making a deeper run, but ultimately I think some of the things that we need to change are fairly small from a superficial level, but too large based on what our franchise is comfortable with.

A guy on the Bulls that will probably be available is Chandler Hutchison. He was taken one pick after Grayson in the 1st round and the old coach liked him, not sure about Billy D.

It IS abundantly clear that we are not good enough. You think missing Bojan is bad. Well guess what? Nuggets were missing Gary Harris for 5 games+Will Barton for the entire series. They were not at their full strength more so than we are and still managed to beat us.

Denver beat LAC because they got Jokic who can punish them down low. Kawhi and PG were all gassed and **** the bed trying to stop Jokic. We don't have such a player on our team. And with the depth of their squad, LAC will be able to overwork and neutralize DM before we can do the same to Kawhi/PG. Denver could deal with it because they've got a deep roster on their own.

AND not to mention Denver will become even better next season because their roster features young players who could still improve, whereas nearly half of the players in our current rotation are heading towards retirement and can basically pull a "Ed Davis" on us at any point.

I agree with CY that we can make a deep run next year if the right tweaks are made but after that we are going to degrade in almost every aspect aside from Mitchell. After one deep run we are gonna wish we had done something now rather than later. We are an old team with a young star.... that’s all I’m saying. Chess not checkers.

I'm not on board with this current "timeline". We need to add young players who can play and grow with DM. So that way if we come up empty again next season and Rudy leaves in the summber it's not the end of the world. Right now its almost like we are preparing to let both Rudy AND Donovan walk in 2021 and start rebuild. Timeline is now for Rudy, yes. But DM still got many years left in his prime. We got lucky the last time around by getting Donovan from the draft after Haywood walk. But as a franchise you gotta always plan for the worst.

The roster should always be fluid to some degree. If Bojan is 3rd best player you aren’t winning anything. He is a average at best rebounder defender but good shooter.

Also can’t associate Denver beating LAC that Jazz automatically would have as well. Joker is elite and it’s a different match up .

Best teams steal talent jazz should be no different.

And it's not like being young and being competitive don't go together. Boston is in ECF while being one of the leagues youngest team. A 20 yr old Tyler Herro just dropped 37 last night... Its pointless being old and experienced if you can't even stay on the floor or are unavailable for most of the games. If the legend of Ed Davis hasn't taught us enough

Jom, step away from the cliff.

To me it looks like we have all but locked up Mitchell with an extension, plus we added 2 semi-all stars to a team with 2 all stars.

Rebuild is not the tone.

A year ago OKC was still trying to compete for a chip under Westbrook/PG, and now look where they are. Rebuild may not be the tone now, but what about next year? 2022? We have an old roster with full of question marks. DM is the only known factor on this team. And that is the problem. We don't have any other players who we can fully trust to contribute at a high level beyond 2022. We've put everything on the line for season 2020 and 2021 with little flexibility going forward.

Agreed. Said this month’s ago. Not sure we have the assets though.

Lauri is interesting... The Bulls are in a weird middle ground and I wonder what they will do. I think they want to compete now, but I think they may want to have space for the FA derby next year. If they extend Lauri then they likely won't have space.

If the draft a guard are they bringing Dunn back? Coby gonna be a bench player long term? If they draft a big are they shipping out Carter or Lauri?

They have a lot of parts but not enough foundation... couple guys could grow into foundation pieces.

In any case I don't think Lauri would come cheap and I'm guessing they aren't in a big hurry to move him. Had a rough go last season after a very promising 2nd season.

Lauri's ceiling is what Bojan did this year lmfao.
