What's new

Niang island

He's a 9th/10th guy...what could people want from him? If he was average at defense he'd probably be making $10M a season and playing 25+ minutes for a playoff team. He isn't, but that's fine because he's making the minimum and going to play 8-10 minutes a night. He's very good at a highly valuable skill that compliments the roster/system well. Not to mention he's a great locker room guy, if you believe in that. Once Jeff Green was gone we were +4.6 with him on the court, the best of all our bench players. He shot the ball well in the playoffs too.
That is a sad sad commentary on the state of our bench.

What is everyone referencing here, was there an article or interview or tweeter or something?

He is starting to be effected by Jazzfanz. He's imitating some of the posters here. :)

But seriously, Karl Malone would have yelled at a reporter if he asked that question during his days. In your work environment if someone said we are going to use less of your skills, then I bet most of you would be upset. It is a normal human reaction. Somehow, we expect these guys to fake it through an interview? Come on, get real fans! I want guys with a hunger to play as long as they don't destroy team chemistry and Niang is one of good ones in terms of his desires and how he treats others.

Niang was taking questions from reporters, he got a question, something about there being a log jam at the 4 spot and what was he doing to get more minutes. There was a reference to if he was losing weight to play some sf.

Niang got a little chippy with his response.

Could you or anyone else provide a link?

It's crazy how much some people here expect from fringe rotation players.

I often use Malone when Im trying to describe Georges to friends. "Very similar" I say.

No we are grasping at straws to fill the most obvious gaps, such as perimeter defense. If we are running with niang in a roster spot, and we haven't done anything to address these deficiencies, then it's reasonable to ask for more from these players to fill the gaps. Otherwise what the **** are they doing taking up a roster spot?

Of course it's really all on the FO, but niang is such an easy target. Hell he's as wide and nimble as a minivan.

I wonder what his conditioning program consists of during the off-season. I wish he would spend time at P3 or had a conditioning program that was as effective as Rudy's. Just to add to his lateral quickness.
These are my thoughts.
