Utes 2011 Football Discussion

Good news and bad news for BYU fans. The good news is that BYU is or was being considered for the BIG 12 according to former BIG 12 Commish Dan Beebe. I know, nothing new there just good to get it confirmed from a guy who was in charge. The bad news as we know is that they are also considering Louisville and West Virginia along with Conference USA teams.

If the Big 12 has the choice between Louisville, WV, or any other Big East schools and BYU, does anyone really think BYU's invite is (still there)?

If Louisville and West Virginia accept the invitation.... No way. I don't see them going beyond 12.

I was definitely impressed with Hays's arm but his decision making (as expected) needs to improve dramatically. All 3 of his picks (although his first one didn't bug me as much as the other two) were because he didn't lead his receiver, to end the first half if he just throws it to the back of the endzone or the pylon it is either a TD or incomplete and his third INT on the roll out the TE was running same direction he has to know throw it towards the sideline for either a incomplete or a really nice catch, instead he throws it behind and the TE's momentum gives him no chance to make a play.
For the U's sake I hope he can realize and have it sink in before the Pitt game.

For the fumbles none are acceptable but John White's at least the D really forced the strip but on the season the WR's are not being fundamentally sound, carrying to loose and not moving the ball to the sideline arm is especially frustrating.

As bad as it seems for the Utes, it's not over yet. We know the Utes aren't going to be in the Pac 12 championship game, and not going to the Rose Bowl. But the toughest part of the schedule is over. Qualify for a bowl (which should be a given) and the worst case scenario is the Vegas Bowl. That was the best case scenario for the MWC, and still better than the Armed Forces Bowl that BYU fans are looking forward to.

This is a down year for the Utes. No question about that. When you lose your starting QB this early in the season, and have all kinds of injuries to the O line this early, it has to be considered a down year in any conference. So if the Utes worst case scenario is the Vegas Bowl in a down year, that's not too shabby. And it will probably be a much better bowl than the Vegas Bowl anyway.

Nothing is a given this year. Well, it's a given that we suck at QB.

I can't wait to see your posts when the Utes don't make a bowl game. I also find it amusing that the very bowl game that all of you Ute tools used as BYU Joke fodder is the very bowl that you MIGHT get into. (if you're lucky)

Carry on.

There is no back pedal here. The Utes had major injuries, including to the QB. When that happened, it became a down year for Utah.

Also, the Vegas Bowl is our worse case scenario. It will probably end up being a better bowl than the Vegas Bowl. But even if it is only the Vegas Bowl, it's still better than the Armed Forces Bowl, and not too shabby at all for a down year with major injuries, new coaches, and a new BCS conference.

Salty: The Utes are contenders.
Starting QB goes down with major injury and the Utes lose.
Salty: You have to say it's a down year with the injuries.
Trollnan: Nice flip flop.

It's not a flip flop. It's taking into account new information.

Trollbody, you can qualify all you want and as usual no one cares and we'll just make fun of your attempts. The bottom line is we're all on the same page now and that is that Utah sucks this year. It just took you longer to get there then most non-handicapped people.

Welcome to reality.

BYU sucks. 54-10. Utah does not suck. They just aren't on the elite BCS Bowl game level. They're still a decent team though and will start winning some games now that the toughest part of the schedule is over.

Trollbody? lol, funny, considering I'm taller than you and probably in better shape.
