What's new

Rudy Gobert 5 years, $205M

I think my frustration lies in the fact. He could have been a real difference here, and instead took a close minded toxic approach that did nothing but make people stop listening to important issues he could have made serious in roads on in the state. Instead of being level headed about the fact people would disagree he took a toxic approach. All Donovan’s approach is, is yelling into an echo chamber and changing no minds. Then he throws a fit or gets butthurt when things get rough or people don’t fully agree with him. He really thought getting involved in politics would have no backlash? Or pushing social justice in the way he approached it wouldn’t have some people who disagreed? And then made his approach overtly political? And now he’s just checked out as far as his feelings about being here. It’s obvious.
Dude give me a break. Maybe he actually cares about those social issues and doesn't give a **** if some racist *** holes don't like him because of it? Do you not see the ridiculousness of saying "He just decided to lump ALL of us fans in with the bigots and now he hates us all" Yet you call him an arrogant, disloyal, ungrateful bitch all day on the internet. If he were aware of you he would not like you at all and it would have nothing to do with your stance on how he feels about social change.

You mocked it when he was constantly posting on social media and it was all an act to 'curate his brand' now he doesn't post anything, and you say he's silent because he is just steaming with how much he hates the organization and can't wait to leave. Just admit your agenda and move on. You just said 'I hope I'm wrong a few posts up'. I think that is a massive lie. You would way rather be 'right'. Why would you even want Mitchell to sign another contract, when you hate him and think he's such a trash person?

Like guys......since the social media comments when he threw a fit he won’t even put his profile pic of him in a Jazz uniform anymore. He changed it the day of the Jazz BLM post and has never changed it back to a Jazz uniform again......his feelings are pretty clear on this community. They just are.

Balderdash. If Mitchell didn't make enough noise to make people uncomfortable, then they wouldn't change at all. The toxic environment is what Mitchell walked into.

It's really not about whether or not Mitchell leaves though.

If I was a betting man I'd say that Mitchell probably won't sign a third contract in Utah. That doesn't mean Oneye isn't acting like a spurned Robert De Niro.
If anything I think he gives us the Brad Beal 1-2 year extension in a few years... I think he will be straight with us and ultimately I think he is traded somewhere he wants to go rather than leaving us with nothing.

The only way I see it being different is if we have a young player that explodes to at least a borderline all star level and it convinces him to be a lifer here. If we had won a title I think it will help the case to stay and be a lifer. If not he feels the pressure to win and other pastures likely look greener.

I will not hate him or feel betrayed. NBA world is different now.

Dear Don, I wrote you, but you still ain't callin'

I left my cell, my pager and my JazzFanz username at the bottom

I wrote two threads about you back in autumn, you must not've seen 'em

There probably was a problem with the internet at the bubble or somethin'

Sometimes my posts get too sloppy when I jot ‘em

But anyways, **** it, what's been up, man? How's your new contract?

My girlfriend's pregnant, I'm 'bout to be a father

If I have a son, guess what I'ma call em?

I'ma name him Donnie

I know you ain’t scared of LeBron or his son Bronny

I had a friend delete his account over some NBA player who didn’t want him

I know you probably hear this every day, but I'm your biggest fan

I got a room full of your posters and your pictures, man

I even got the the sneakers you signed for that little girl at the game

You know you’re way better than Dame

Anyways, I hope you get this, man, hit me back

Just to chat, if you don’t I’ma cry, this is @oneye

As far as the social justice stuff, I agree with his stances but not his approach. Obama is right that if you want to forward a message, catchy phrases like “defund the police” are easy to say, but you’re only reaching the people who already agree with you and losing those you need to actually change things. Perhaps when trying to educate people on Juneteenth, post something about Juneteenth instead of a graphic of “free-ish”, true or not it doesn’t resonate with people especially those losing their jobs during a pandemic as he is a high paid athlete that plays basketball. Your message will only be as impactful as your approach. And your reply is exactly the problem. Disagreement, doesn’t mean someone is racist. Not supporting a specific political party/candidate. Does not make someone racist. It doesn’t. You don’t know their reasoning they don’t know yours so a decent approach of reaching the people who don’t understand the issues is how you’re going to actually press forward real and lasting change. His approach has been nothing but divisive, cry when someone doesn’t agree with me, toxic behavior. I believe the issues are very important to him, they should be to us all, but I would like to see a real difference made not yelling into our echo chambers.

As for not liking me lol, you’re right, but he doesn’t like you anymore than me, cause it’s pretty obvious he’s lumped everyone in with his comment sections and that’s his reality. (It’s not reality btw) when 100,000 people like a post, and 1,000 people leave a negative comment, that’s 1% of people. And I have no doubts that at least 1% of people will always be horrible POS. But the 99% who liked the post well, they’re just like that 1% in his reality.

Orlando just gave Isaac 20M a year and Fultz 16.7M a year... Is Rudy worth 5M more a year than Isaac and Fultz? Fo. Sho.

Nah. Uncomfortable is one thing, I think having the conversations in a real way is important. At every approach he chose the most toxic approach he could and then apparently expected zero disagreement ever and got super offended at any disagreement whether it was socially or politically with him. Donovan was a part of fostering toxicity with the conversation.

Like the kneeling during the anthem stuff, did that really forward the conversation? Or just turn a lot of people off and close their minds to you and change the conversation from racial issues to a kneeling debate? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but it’s not an approach that garners the support you need from those who see that specific issue differently. People who don’t like kneeling aren’t racist, they do miss the point, but neither NBA stars nor you or I have the the right to tell a mom who lost her child at war who feels deeply about that issue how to feel.

Fultz? I thought he was almost out of the league.
He was solid last year. Issue is if he never gets the shot back he is close to his ceiling. And the shot is part mental part physical. I wouldn't bet on it.

Isaac is always hurt... they just bet big on two guys that would terrify me. Yeesh. Somewhere OG Anunoby is telling the Raptors whatever their last offer was they need to add 5M a year to it before they can talk.

We don’t need that. Let him space the floor by keeping people trying to disrupt the lob, opening up the perimeter. What we need is him to be the beast on defense that impacts every game on a consistent basis. That’s what takes us to the next level. We didn’t need AK to “work on his jumpshot,” we needed him to let more efficient guys score and him keep the energy and do the dirty work. I want Rudy getting high percentage lobs and putbacks.
Best rimmer runner in the game!
