What's new

Rudy Gobert 5 years, $205M

Donovan and Rudy were confirmed the same evening, right?
Before, for sure. If it happened. He didn't do anything like that after he tested positive.
Donovan’s was confirmed the next morning, but Donovan also never had one symptom either the entire time.

I hope so too. But too much has changed in his head IMO, all he thinks Utah is, is a backwards place thats ignorant and racist at this point, he's completely bought it at this point. You never see him involved here anymore. You never see him mention any of the local sports teams here anymore. Remember when he used to tweet about BYU, Utah football and basketball? Yeah that hasn't happened anymore has it? You've seen zero community involvement from him here in the past 10 months. He hasn't spent a second here he wasn't contractually obligated to. Wasn't even in Utah to sign his extension. Never acknowledged it. Never thanked the organization, fanbase, or community for the unabashed support he was shown for 3 years and the $163-195 million gold plated pay day and contract he got. I know Rudy, Joe, Quin, and other coaches within the organization have been involved and on calls with local leaders the past 6 months, Donovan has had no involvement and never been on any of those calls. And the fanbase has every right to cool on him when it's obvious he's lumped everyone in with those idiots in his comments sections. It doesn't matter his alma mater Louisvilles posts have the same comments, or every NBA and players page who posts about social and political issues, no Donovan believes you are all racist POS at this point and it's just the sad truth. People who don't see the really drastic change in his vibe towards Utah over the past 10 months are just being willfully blind. I have a toxic approach to this, but it's still the truth.
You are just assuming most of this. Maybe the virus and social unrest has been hard on him like most people. I have almost completely stopped posting on social media as well, it's just a thing people do. He's a young kid still figuring out the world. Your expectations of him we're too high. All your hate for him is based on your guess. You/we know next to nothing about him and what he actually thinks. Just enjoying watching him play, that's his job. If after awhile he chooses to play somewhere else, oh well. I've been upset about players stuff before as well, but it really doesn't matter much. It's just a game for fun. It shouldn't make you this angry or worked up. I'm guessing you're really young and emotional due to other things in life as well. Sports can be an outlet for it but don't let them bring you down.

He was solid last year. Issue is if he never gets the shot back he is close to his ceiling. And the shot is part mental part physical. I wouldn't bet on it.

Isaac is always hurt... they just bet big on two guys that would terrify me. Yeesh. Somewhere OG Anunoby is telling the Raptors whatever their last offer was they need to add 5M a year to it before they can talk.
He is often hurt, but I love Isaac's game. If he could stay healthy, he could become a star.

$20 million could end up being a great deal for Orlando.

Except he hasn't stopped posting on social media, he's still quite active on it, just not in regards to Utah even when he signs a $195 million payday with us. And JazzFanz is exactly the right place to get worked up. There's not, nothing to what I'm pointing out. There has been a significant shift the past 9-10 months on his attitude towards playing here. And no a lot of that isn't assumptions.

Ad far as the "Donovan as an SJW" comments, not sure if you're up on current events but it appears, at least by your definition, The Jazz are now owned by an SJW.

In light of this The Jazz may no longer be the team for you.

For sure, Ryan Smith will be a great owner who does a lot of good for the organization and state with his influence. Smith/Qualitrics have donated a lot to BLM, and plenty of other groups in regards to addressing theses issues. Smith also bought 50 meals per day for an entire month for employees at Qualtrics from local small restaurants back in March/April to help them during Covid. Ryan Smith is a great person and will be a great owner.

oneye has had a very interesting transition... when he first posted on the board he was known as a huge Donovan fan, which people may be forgetting. Here's a small sampling of that kind of stuff:
when your best friend win 1 million dollar you are happy
when your best friend wins 200 million dollars you are jealous and start hate him

Listened to an athletic pod today and the Rudy slander was wild... saying myles turner is better and costs half as much... saying he’s Clint Capela with a raise... I guess he’s gonna have to go back out and prove the simps wrong again.

Who was on the podcast?

Donovan deserved every single penny of that contract and more. Monetarily I am happier with Donovan’s contract than Rudy’s. I just don’t like that he didn’t show much gratefulness in regards to the amazing contract he was given, and hates Utah over social media comments he’s based his reality off of...oh and the fact he threw his best teammate under the bus for months. Been a rough 10 months for the “Donovan’s a humble guy” mantra.

Lol, yeah you're wayyyyyy over reading things. Those are huge assumptions. I can think of many different reasons for why he is doing certain things. All of those are just a guess, like yours. You're basically saying you're upset that he isn't posting what you think he should post about. He's a person, a young person. He doesn't owe Utah praise for paying him his value, every team in the NBA would. He doesn't owe you anything. He's provided what he is supposed to for his job, great play.

You can get worked up about it. But it's silly and pointless. You're just getting upset about something you have no control over and worse something you are assuming. Save your getting worked up for real things that matter and you can do something about. But obviously nothing I see, other posters say, the team says, or Mitchell says will change your mind. It's sports, it's okay to get a little worked up, but it's supposed to provide you entertainment.

Read this makes me less unhappy over how much more restricted their paywall became, as that's just really bad content

So things that are not assumptions:

-He never once acknowledged the $195 million payday he got which is pretty customary and was done by every other guy who got their max deals. For someone as active as he is, and intentionally PR savvy as he is, saying nothing, is intentional. You can say he doesn’t owe Utah a thank you, but guess what? His situation has benefitted him as much as he has benefitted his situation. He could be Booker in Phoenix with no playoff appearances in his career. It’s been mutually beneficial for him that Utah gave him a good stable winning environment to be successful. Coulda been Fox in Sac, coulda been Kemba in Charlotte, coulda been drafted to Detroit like he thought he’d be. Yes. His situation was beneficial to him as well.
-Rudy, Joe, Quin, other coaches have been involved with local leaders on issues, specifically the issues he’s been loud about, and he hasn’t been involved at all locally. This isn’t an assumption, this is factual. I know this. That’s not his obligation necessarily, but if he’s invested in change it takes more than being loud on social media or sitting down with Kamala Harris and proposing no changes or specific legislation or progress.
-9 months ago changed all his social media profile pictures out of Jazz uniform and has never had them back to him in a Utah uniform after getting up in his feelings over social media comments.
-threw his most important teammate under the bus and let it fester for months. You know the teammate most responsible aside from himself for the wins attached to his career who this thread is about? He was super humble and grateful about that too.

These aren’t assumptions.

Those are assumptions about the meaning behind them. Maybe its intentional, maybe its not. You can only guess why he did things you have no idea why, you are making huge assumptions and have decided they are facts. No, he doesnt owe you or the team anything that he isnt doing. He could be in Phoenix, Sac, or Charlotte and he would still be making the same paycheck for doing his job. Its simply an opinion about how those teams would be with him. Those are pretend scenarios we have no idea about. You dont know what he has or has not been involved with. You are making the assumption based on stalking his social media. You can stalk me and know nothing about me from my social media, that is true from pretty much everyone.

Yes, some players comment about their extension, some do not. That does not mean anything you assume about it. Could he handle things better or do things better? Of course, that is true of every human on earth.

You dont know what happened with the Gobert situation.

He has thanked Utah Jazz recently and the Millers and many more. His profile picture is someone he is honoring on Instagram it looks like, but looking at his last few posts they are all pictures/videos of him in the Jazz uniform. Again you are assuming why his profile picture isnt himself in a Jazz uniform. It might be a fact he changed them but everything else is just your assumptions and most likely false since its just your guess.

I really hope for your sake you dont act like this with your other relationships in real life. I hope guys/girls/people you like you dont stalk people on their social media and make assumptions and over think every text you get from them.

You are being obsessive and feeling like someone owes you something that they do not. On top of that you are calling him names and trying to belittle him for not doing what you want, it makes it worse. He is a real person and he is trying to figure out life for himself. You are allowed to have your opinion about him and his actions. But they are not facts or real. Those are just your opinions of someone you know next to nothing about and have no interaction with. The reality is you are trying to confirm your own bias with how you read each thing he does you see.

I am pretty sure if you hold anyone to your expectations like this you'll be disappointed.

I am very happy with both contract extensions for our two best all-star players. We havent had a core like this since Stockton/Malone days. Dwill/Boozer was close but not as good, nor locked in for this long in their prime. Plus we have a solid team around them with some decent options to make a move if something opens up. The Jazz franchise is a really good place right now.
