Not sure why Niang keeps getting minutes
Because he has been playing well. His 3 point shot hasnt been going in but we all know he is a good shooter, thats not a concern. But the rest of his game has been good. His defense has been good and he is doing everything else well.

For the record he is by far our best net rating player. He has both the highest offensive rating and lowest defensive rating. I am not sure why people are trashing on him this year. For a small role player he is playing incredible. All of that with his most valuable feature of shooting being off. But all shooters have ups and downs with that.

Detroit let their best player walk because he wouldn’t sign for $8 million a year.

How they continue to get worse as an organization is really incredible.
Dude asked people on Instagram where he should go even before the free agency begun. At least they got a better player who they can flip.

Also they are tanking.

He has not been playing well.

If he's shooting a bad three point shot he shouldn't be on the floor period.

Yes hes hustling a little more on D, but that's not enough. His one skill is his three point ability. If that isn't there he shouldnt be playing.

That's his best skill, but it's not good only skill. I want a fan of him playing last year but he's earned his minutes this year. His defense has been solid, he's making good decisions, the offense flows well when he's in, and he hustles.

Also you don't make good shooters stop is they aren't hitting. They should keep shooting and the coaching staff should encourage them to. It's bad basketball to stop taking open shots because you missed a couple. We know he's a good shooter, he's proven that. There's a reason his advanced stats are very good, it's easy to see when he's playing this year. He makes good basketball plays. Maybe he reverts back to last year in the rest of his game and at that point you can try other players. But right now he deserves the minutes he's getting. I'm not sure why people are bagging on him.

I think Shaq and Oni need some minutes to prove themselves but they will get time when injuries come. In their minutes so far they have been huge negatives. Well, Oni has been negative and Shaq has been a giant hole of negative despite showing some positive plays. But it has mostly been in garbage time and limited so its hard to rely on it much. Easily our worse rotation player is Bojan right now but I expect that to turn around and when it does consistently we will be very good.

Its been a very weird year for everyone including NBA players. This was an odd off season for them and you can see in the NBA that teams are very inconsistent and distracted. I think the second half of the season should even out though assuming things get more normal in the world. But, if not I expect more inconsistencies.

He's also got a -8.1 BPM. His net rating is being carried by Jordan Clarkson minutes (he's play 100% of his minutes with Jordan Clarkson). I get why he's in, but I'm entirely unconvinced that Oni or Morgan couldnt do what he's doing, and we'd be getting a more talented/athletic player experience.

I get what you're saying. Niang gets the benefit of the doubt, but it should only be to an extent. He's really pushing it right now.

But you tank IN THE HOPE that you can get a 20/10 unicorn big. Just off the top of my head, Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley, and Jahlil Okafor will never be as good as Wood is right now. There are very rarely sure things in the draft. Also, you could trade him later for a haul if you’re dead-set on tanking.

The Pistons were absolutely in the drivers seat and Wood was simply going to go where he got the biggest payday. And he still only got 3/$42 but only got THAT much because the Pistons did a S/T. They did a bunch of silly **** with their cap space they didn’t have to.

They could have likely still gotten grant if they planned their space out. 3/25 for Plumlee is amazing when you are a ranking team.

Wood might be a nut job off the court. Which Detroit would know better than anyone else.

He's shooting 19% from 3... he was given 10 games. It'd be more than fair for coach to go a different direction. Go back to Niang if Oni or Shaq or Morgan **** the bed.

Just thinking out loud here, but when was the last time Quin gave up on a guy? Like was actually a regular rotation guy, then he brought them out? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, unless it was obvious he didn't like them to begin with.

Ed Davis last year. Kind of Jeff Green too, but I can't remember if Niang replaced him then they cut Green or if cutting Green was the way they replaced him.

Dante's playing time yo-yo'd but it could be because oscillated between ded and kinda ded.

Went from Trey to Neto... He rode Joe Johnson until we had to trade him... thought Joe was so bad he definitely should have been shut down.

I mean, I'm sure trading guys is part of that. Exum, Burks, and Hood come to mind. Ed Davis and Jeff Green from last year. Burke. Kanter.

Yeah, it's weird. THis is the best year to go full tank too. No fans means you don't have to worry about selling tickets.

They got Grant tho and he's way better than I ever thought he could be.

They could have gone full tank with Grant/Wood. Just max out guys like Hayes/Bey/Sekou's minutes while still playing through BLake's washed *** and trade Rose. It might not have been a top 5 pick, but they still would have been very bad.

I post a very on topic thread about a trade idea and it gets locked?

Lopo's feelings must be protected at all cost!

Honestly just maximizes Hays minutes might have left them bottom 5 on it’s own even if they had Wood and Grant. Can rest Blake whenever if he’s getting frisky and playing well. With the new odds bottom 5-6 is kinda the same as bottom 1-2. They’d be a grant injury way from bottom 2 since so many teams are trying.

They have no premium young talent and we’re setup for a perfect process tank... then got some solid vets and encumbered a whole bunch of cap space. I think Grant is a solid trade asset for them though... so maybe that is the plan?

Christian Wood is not a unicorn. He is a good player, though. Detroit should have signed him but I don't think Wood was staying. He asked people where he should go multiple times in the off-season. May be he signs for 3/50. I don't know, I just feel he wanted out.

Ayton, Bagley and Okafor got drafted ahead of really good players. Just bad picks instead of type.
