Have people here bought into Conley yet?

Or am I still going to get LOL'd at for saying the Jazz made the right decision trading for him and keeping him? Has the sample size of good play still been "too small"?

I am very happy with his game play so far this season. He has been a consummate professional and everything we hoped he would be. I am still not a fan of the trade because I still think we have a gap that will be very difficult to fill against the Lakers and others in the playoffs who have big strong wings. That is a known issue and we have done nothing to address it. So I am very happy to have Conley the way he is playing right now, and with what a great guy he is. But I would absolutely move him for an athletic 3 and D wing, which will have a bigger impact in the playoffs imo.

But hey, I hope he proves me wrong and ends up being the secret sauce to our first championship this year!

I think you can buy into Conley and still believe it was a mistake to trade for Conley. I’m bought in but still wish we hadn’t paid such a high price
This. And for me, the price was too high, and I still think the fit is suspect. We needed a different role, but the Jazz are so stuck on finding the next John Stockton it had to be expected. They have blown how many relatively high-level draft picks trying to find the next great PG? Just stupid.

We traded Crowder, Allen and two first-round picks for Conley. That is in contention for the best trade in our franchises history.

What exactly about that trade is a high price? It’s peanuts and pennies on the dollar. You upset about the two first-round picks that wouldn’t even see the floor?

Conley absolutely puts us into contention and there is not and was not a single move out there that would be better for us.

Sometimes I think people worry too much about this needing a big wing thing and calling it a huge weakness. Every team has weaknesses somewhere. This weakness didn’t stop us from beating two of the three teams we fear most due to us not having a big wing. Unless we find one that is allstar or near allstar level, Conley IMO makes us better

Well this weakness caused us to make Murray look like MJ part 2 during the playoffs and was a big part of losing the series. It is a known hole we did nothing to fill. That is a problem.

Conley is coming up on the down slope of his career and making superstar money and Memphis was upgrading his spot in the draft. It was an overpay

What series were you watching? What was a big wing going to do to stop Murray? We lost the series in part because we didn’t have Bogey

It isn't only about size, it is about ability to defend those positions. I said we needed a 3 & D wing, but that emphasis had to be on D. Someone to stay in front of Murray and others that we just did not and still do not have really. O'Neale has improved I think in his man on D, so maybe that fills the hole somewhat, but he was abysmal on Murray in the playoffs. But we had no one who could stay with Murray, and Murray fully matched Mitchell, whereas in the real world Murray is not even close to Mitchell. So someone at say 6'5" who plays good perimeter D would have been a much bigger help than a 6'1" Conley in that series. Periodt.

And there is no doubt not having Bogie hurt us a lot. But you are not going to have a very easy time winning if you are allowing Murray to put up numbers like that.
