Oni needs to find consistent minutes

If we had drafted Bane would he be getting more PT than Oni? Who would he be stealing mins from? Bojan?
He’d be vying with Oni for the 10th man spot this season.

In any case, Bojan has been hot garbage too often this season, and half the rotation is only getting farther from their primes on a team with few picks or prospects and that projects to annually be at the LT to start offseasons.

im wondering if bogie is feeling too much pressure right now.

I think a big problem is his fit in the offense. He isn’t a post up player. I don’t know why Q is using him like that. I think he’d have a lot more success coming off those Korver/Hayward picks and shooting/driving to the rim.

Having said that, he’s missing rven wide open looks and leaves a lot to be desired defensively. IMO that 3/4 spot is the weakest link. I really wish we had drafted a guy like Bane. If nothing else than to be another speed bump we could throw at Lebron or Durant. If we lose it’s probably going to be because our 3/4 spot was destroyed and we needed a James Posey like player who could give us 3 point shooting without being such a liability on defense.

I hoped Oni would be similar to Royce. But I’m beginning to wonder if he just doesn’t have the shot or the ability to defend without fouling to be effective. Which would be a loss. We really could use another athletic wing. Is Hughes that guy?

My thoughts exactly. It's why I wonder if Bogie is feeling pressured and hurt too - add that to a suboptimal role and of course he's struggling. Plus I miss those korver screens, he'd be deadly at that

Dudes, Bojan’s surgery on his shooting wrist is no small deal. I was listening to a podcast the other day and someone mentioned how hard it was to get your feel back. I want Bojan getting as many reps as possible right now.
I get that. I remember spraining my ankle with some knees problems too, it messed my shot up for a while. Although i wonder if less time would help. No idea, I'm not a coach

I am totally with you until the idea of reps. I am skeptical that it's as healed as it's going to be. I think he's forcing it.

None of us really know, but hopefully you're more right than I am.

As much as I love Quin I wish he was more like Spo in opening up his roster during the regular season to get some lesser known guys some burn to see what we have.

Should have been done last year with Morgan and again this year with Oni/Shaq IMO.

I mean as soon as Conley comes back in the lineup, Bojan is nails again. I don't think that is a coincidence. . .

Getting bogie back to his precision shooter self is priority in realm of this discussion. After LAC 2nd, game I agree that increasing Oni time is vital. So with a run of lesser teams in 2nd half of Season, oni should get 15 mins at least, usually on best player to prepare for playoffs. We will need him in playoffs.

Especially since we are blowing teams out of the water. We have a little margin for error to experiment with these guys.

Not that I can really argue with the results so far. This is by far the most fun I have had following the Jazz since they came to Utah. Even the 90's teams did not seem so dominant.

Bogie, Oni, Niang are all important to get stronger. But top priority is helping Gobert get better offensively down low when the other team bodies him up.

Like I said a few days ago in another thread, when you compare Bogie's FG% and 3pt. % to last season the difference is minimal. People are overreacting and I laugh when they act like he's SO MUCH worse than last season.

His shots are down from last season while most other players are shooting more than they did last season; we're less dependent on Bogie.

Couldn’t agree more.

Shaq has been absolutely horrid in the minutes he has gotten. There isn't enough time to get him ready for playoff minutes.
This is a bit like saying there’s no use for ranch because it tasted absolutely awful when you put it in a bowel and tried to eat it like soup. That’s Shaq in garbage time minutes.

I am really intrigued by the idea of putting ranch in a bowel and eating it like soup. Cool idea.
