Sorry, just my failed attempt to point out, to those who were complaining about concrete and seats, that LHM built the arena without public funding. This might not be the case with a lot of the nicer arenas and stadiums around the country.
 
I think the small renovations over the last couple years made a huge difference. They arent a lot but they made the feel of everything a lot better. *I think within the arena itself the ESA is great. *There are no bad seats, and the over all feel is great. *Most arenas have horrible seats even in the lower bowl. *The seats the the corners of the arena aren't even facing the court.*

The restaurants, and concession stands is what the ESA is lacking. *I personally don't care about these things, i'm there to watch basketball and not there to have good food. *

The only thing I wish was for a little more leg room in my seats. *Other than that I love the ESA. *
 
I have no issues with the arena, unless I'm seeing a concert there, and I've never thought of it as obsolete. It's not the shiny, state of the art arena that Staples and some of the other places are, but it also doesn't have hockey seating, like those arenas have. Its sitelines are built for basketball and you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to watch a basketball game. The acoustics do suck, but they also help amplify the crowd noise, so it's a wash.

Just not seeing it as you, but that's ok.

I've been to MSG, Phoenix, OKC Ford Center, Seattle's Key Arena, GS, by the Forum. ESA looks like a construction still in progress to me. Grey exterior. Really dull, and lifeless...and ugly.
If you like it then that's all that matters. I know we aren't going to get a new arena for at least 15 years. So we are stuck with it. Still it's a great place to see a game, it just doesn't look
good to me inside or out.
 
on a side note....The Salt Palace always looked great both inside, and out to me. The name alone was legendary.

The SP will always blow ESA out of the water to me. The only thing ESA has over it is more seats.
 
It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing or have all the amenities the league's more modern arenas possess, but IMO Energy Solutions Arena suits the Utah Jazz and their fans very well and provides one of the great homecourt advantages in the league.

I think the size (19,911 which puts it in the upper half of the league), location, and upgrades set it apart from other arenas such as Arco and Key - which were also extremely great, loud homecourt advantages, but ultimately outdated.
