Who Would Current Jazz Fans Recognize: Karl Malone or Niang?

Here in New York we've had another incident. The third greatest player in NBA history, Patrick Ewing, was at The Garden last night to coach his Georgetown Hoyas. A security guard did not know who he was and asked Ewing to produce papers. Ewing was upset, things got out of hand and Ewing was taken into custody, tried over night, and executed this morning. His jersey was also taken down from the rafters at MSG. We loved him, but you have to produce papers when asked by security.

Clearly the security guard at The Garden last night did not recognize Ewing. My question for Jazz fans is two-fold:

1. Do you think security at your arena would recognize Karl Malone?
2. Who is more recognizable right now to Jazz fans: Malone or Gobert?

It is shame you don't know who Ewing look like.

Cool thread

Yeah, definitely one of the top threads ever at this site.

My thread essentially asks the profound question what is a man's place in this world? Is it to be a Malone or a Niang? Can a Niang live a fulfilling life or must one be a Ewing? And if a Ewing is not recognized, is he still a Ewing?

I dont get the comparison. Malone was 10x the player Ewing was so of course everyone would recognize Karl and of course no one recognizes Uwing. Maybe if MTHJK had asked about John Crotty or Carey Scurry this would make sense.

This is all kind of overblown in my opinion.

1. Security Guards is a young persons' job.
2. Young people aren't going to recognize the great players from the 80s.
3. It's the security guards job to check for credentials. They were doing their job.

I hope they didn't reprimand, demote or fire the security guard for following their training and doing their job - or the MSG is even more messed up than imagined.

Oh, it's more messed up than you imagine. This security guard hasn't been fired, but the security guard who asked to see Jim Dolan's ID tag was fired by Dolan. True story.

That's just nutty.

At the police department city offices I used to work at, we had a secure building. Everyone either has a key card (because they work there) or they need to show their ID to get buzzed in. One of the City Council members was offended that one of police department records clerks asked to see her ID (you know, doing her job) and made a big scene about it. Afterwards, all of the City Council members got key cards so that they had automatic access to the PD and they had their portrait pictures hung up inside the police department facing the front desk, so that all of the clerks could study their council members names and likenesses to let them in right away in case they lost their key card. Egos all around.

"According to my bundle theory of the self, ontologically, Ewing tis' no more than a bundle of perceptions and attributes. There is no underlying self or substance."

If I recall, you could outconsume Schopenhauer and Hegel.
"Tis merely speculation, based on deduction, that I put my thoughts into form of a melody":

Ersan Ilyasova had quite a hangova'
And was very rarely stable

Rudy Gobert had quite the flair
For drinking you under the table

Ron Boone could out-consume
Bogey and Ingles...
