Game Thread Apr 07, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz at Suns

Imagine if we had Craig out there playing for us.

I have to say that at no point did I think we were going to win tonight. The reason? They have Chris Paul and we don’t. The difference he has made for the Suns is astounding. He always plays poised and gets his team to play the same way. Donovan was clutch in the 4th quarter, but as a whole the team was spastic throughout. I like Conley but he just doesn’t have anywhere near that same impact.

As much as I have enjoyed the team’s success this year I have never bought into the hype that the Jazz at serious title contenders (yet). Mitchell needs another season or two under his belt and the Jazz need another clutch player or two before they are ready.

Frustrating as hell.

Royce is back to playoff Royce where he is terrified to shoot.

Clarkson is being guard tight and he has no idea what to do. For some reason he has this idea that he has to get up shots no matter what and it's becoming extremely frustrating that he can't adjust.

Bogey is 6'8 for nothing on the boards.

Rudy should be throwing gatorade coolers in the lockerroom with how much ******** he had to put up with from his team this game. Constantly missing him wide open under the rim. Not getting back into the PNR fast enough to cover Paul. When Rudy sticks with Paul none of them are putting an *** into any Phoenix players.

Royce played well defensively in the OT but his defensive breakdown on CP3 3 was the biggest turnaround of the game.
Felt like more of a Conley break down. IDK though, those things are hard to diagnosis for sure, but why in the hell is Conley leaving CP3 when he can clearly see that Royce is not there.

Royce giving us nada, so let's stay with him while our best shooter sets on the bench.
It’s heresy to ever speak ill of Royce. A few weeks back I dared suggest that we get more out of that position and I got slammed. Apparently 1-3 2 pts from our starting SF is sufficient for this board.

Frustrating game, but I don't feel worse about Utah in any way. I still think the Jazz are clearly the best team (until we see fully healthy Brooklyn). It's good they are getting these struggles out now. Yeah, the Jazz might have peaked earlier in the year, but they are dipping at the right time for a resurgence going into the playoffs. A statement win would have been fun tonight, but it's not like they have to have that game.

Our rebounding is hilariously bad when the big is contesting the shot
This.
Glaring weakness. Seems like most team have 2 guys on the floor at the same who can rebound but the jazz dont.

I really don’t understand why our guards regularly pass up Gobert for an easy dunk and insist on chucking up 3s. It’s weird. There were at least 5 times in the first half that Gobert was wide open for the lob/had great position under the rim and we missed him. It’s weird. A dunk should be our first option.
