What's new

What would this do?

You have a younger cheaper version of Dame although not like for like in how they play in Don already no sense in swapping them. Which is why im 100% ok if Conley isn't back. I think he will be back since you can't just go out and spend to replace him but I think he'll be used differently next season. But if he is gone Don can slide into the "PG" spot sure he doesn't have the passing ability of Dame but in today's more positionless basketball it'll be fine. You just have to surround him and Rudy with the correct players. And for Donovan's "hints" he isn't happy here are non existent. You're looking for something that just isn't there. Sure he might like a tweet about something in New York that doesn't mean he wants to just up and leave there has been 0 evidence in that. The Jazz now have a owner that is younger that understands this generation and more aligns with his thinking and a minority owner who is a NBA legend who he himself has been compared to that will be a mentor to him. And i'm sorry but last night all but confirmed it if it wasn't true already. This is Don's team. Plain and simple. This roster was setup for Rudy with him manning the middle with 4 shooters and it got exposed. One player dropped 39/9/9 on one leg while the other couldn't handle 6'9 forwards. That's not a slight at Rudy. He is what he is but now is the time to alter the roster to more align with Donovan's timeline. He is the face of the franchise, he is the marketable one, he is the one you give the ball to when you need a bucket but that doesn't mean Rudy isn't the backbone of the team and that's ok.

Right, but he’ll be more of a shooter like Dame than a driver. He had a hell of a time driving or doing much inside and making passes out. I’d guess he’s 6 feet tall and relies heavily on athleticism to do things inside or play make.
Why would it be a bad thing if he was more a shooter like Dame? He is a great shooter and has had some struggles finishing at times.

I didn’t say it would, i said we saw how his game will likely change once the athleticism starts to fall.

First off, I don’t agree that hints aren’t there, which is why I asked the question if it was something that did happen and you could get Dame what exactly the team might look like with Dame instead of Donovan.

It would look nearly identical. You still have the same issues whether it's Donovan or Dame. A few years ago we couldn't score to save our life against the Rockets. Now we can't defend on the wings to save our life. The pendulum swung too far in the opposite direction it now needs another correction. We need to turn players like Bojan, Ingles, Niang, Oni, Thomas into long athletic defensive players who can still score.

Agreed, and as I mentioned in an earlier reply yeah you’d have to make similar changes to the roster but I think if you needed this would be a great trade and probably the best one you could hope for.

So.... Change into an even better game? Sounds good to me.

For sure, I think it would be a pretty lateral move but I also think it’s one of the best trades you could make/get. Dame has said he has a willingness to play in Utah (now some of that was because he is really good friends with Johnnie Bryant who is gone now) but he also has the Weber state connection and I do think he’s a player who would actually be happy/fine with a trade here who is a legitimate star.
I think you might be the only person in the world, including analysts, who thinks the Jazz should move Donovan. Can't you get behind your bias? Your arguments have no intellectual basis -- they're purely emotional and thus illogical. Maybe he does want to leave, but I doubt it now that DWade, with whom he is very close and who has become his mentor, is part of the Jazz. Can't you even see this? If you can't, then you are like a person who watched George Floyd die and believes the police were just doing their job.

Donovan is not going anywhere
After game 6 performance he is untouchable
Having DWade seals the deal
Jazz should be all in to get him help

Shaq is part owner of Sacramento, I’m not sure how much good that’s doing them lol. As I said, if the Jazz don’t have to trade him there’s no way on earth they’re going to trade him. This is under the premise they do have to trade him.
