Jazz Offseason Plan

We are at 136M without Conley. Do the sign and trade and you are at 136M with like 11ish players... you could fill out the roster maybe but likely need to move some stuff around.

I just don't think he wants to come here and the mechanics would get pretty tough to make it all work. I also don't think Lonzo minus Conley, JC, Favs makes us better. Its an okay option if Mike leaves and NY isn't rolling out 25M for Lonzo I guess.

Well if Conley leaves then it’s just Clarkson/Favors for Lonzo and I’d do that without thinking twice.

What am I missing… I’m seeing our salary at 130M without Conley.
11 players puts us at 134M plus the 30th pick takes us to 136M. Some of those non-guaranteed deals can be waived but you have to get to 13 players.

That's what I was really looking at. If Mike wants to go to a contender, he'll have his shot. If he wants to go to a contender and get paid, he'll need our help.

I don't think they do though... and I think he might just chance it and sign with NY or another team for that type of money. With sign and trades the guys either have to be out of options to get the money they want or you have to be the preferred destination. I just don't think its realistic at all.

We’re looking at all options here HH… please don’t kill the vibe with being the voice of reason on it being realistic. It works under the cap and it’s for the amount he will probably sign for so let us have our idea.

I don't know how we make it happen, but Lonzo needs to be on the list of priorities. If there is any way to make it happen, we should. He fits next to Don. Maybe NOLA likes Bojan as a floor spacer for Zion and Ingram.

And part of the equation is NOLA matching. If some team like NY wants to come in and just sign him, NOLA can be like "screw you we're just gonna match". But when Lonzo's people communicate with NOLA that they have a team willing to spend XYZ money on Lonzo, that's when they negotiate S&T deals.

We seem to have a decent relationship with Griffen because we've traded with him a handful of times over the years.

Nola have Hart and reddick coming from the bench, I don't think they need clarkson there unless they make him a starter. Bogey for lonzo makes more sense since they need shooting.

I say this every year, but..... the NBA as a league is dominated by the 6'8" / 220-lb. triple-threat wing. The reason is because they can do everything. They can defend multiple positions, grab a rebound, drive the ball, get to the rim, get an open look from 3pt, get a look from mid-range, and get in the key and make almost any pass on the floor. The game is just made for this type of player.

Look at Gordon Hayward. His dribble was pretty basic. His first step was pretty average. He was a good shooter, not a great shooter. He was a good passer, not a great passer. He could get to the rim, but he wasn't a skywalker. But Hayward impacted every play because he was that prototypical 6'8" / 220-lb wing with ball skills.

The Jazz haven't had that since Hayward left, and that's the guy I'd want to put on the floor between Mitchell and Gobert. Right now, Ingles is kind of a middling imitation of that player. The Jazz need a real one if they want to make the Finals.
Agreed.
That's what I want too.

And now we know what DL was up to all season... he didn't get us a current player to help but he put together two summer league teams... what a sly devil.
When they play each other it's literally a win win
Checkers/chess and all that
