Jazz Offseason Plan

Why would Conley want to go to Knicks?
If he gets injured like he did here they will be merciless with him

Rumor has it that the Knicks want a proven PG to run the show there and provide guidance to the young roster like Paul has for Phoenix. They've been linked more with Lowry, but Conley has come up too.

DL really needs to get some love. The entire FO deserves it. Losing in the second round this year hurt. Even when we made it to the WCF back in 2007 we didn't have the best record in the league. We did this year.

Don't through the baby out with the bath water....

We absolutely run it back and enjoy being one of the best teams in the NBA. Yeah this year broke open for us at the end, expect for the Clippers. The Sun's and the Clips have been the toughest match up's for this season. We also had to see the Bulls.

This is a beautiful basketball team and has as good a shot as anyone of winning. We are being giving fluid, intelligent, team focused winning basketball. What we pay for in fandom is very much worth it's value for the first time really in 14 years.

Don't let disappointment take your hoops joy. Let's run it back.

Yeah I mean anytime you put your team in a dire cap situation that may lead you to lose one of your main pieces so that you can take care of one of the easiest needs to fill you deserve a ton of credit. It takes a real super genius to nail that move.

If that isn't enough he ignored a clear need we've had on the roster for 2-3 years even though there were multiple opportunities to fill said need with a minimum contract player.

Also drafted a limited center in the first round to be 3rd string to the two limited centers sitting in front of him for 3 years.

But the good news is we avoided the tax and didn't start the repeater tax clock that would make running it back a big concern.... what's that? Oh he just barely put us in the tax making it a huge financial loss if we do decide to run it back.

If he wants some love then he can kiss my whole *******.

I think our price limit with Mike will be about 2/45M or 3/60M maybe third year only partially guaranteed. I would think NY would have to go a bit higher unless they love the city (doesn't seem like that would be his scene but who knows). State and city taxes are wild in NY and cost of living is bonkers. It's also a worse basketball situation and I can't think of a worse coach to work with a guy that has a hamstring condition.

So if NY gets wild and goes 3/75M - 90M or something then they can have him I guess. I think it'd be short sighted to pay an aging guy that much and mess up your cap situation. Would think they'd have better uses of cap space but it is NY so maybe they get dumb with it.

Whoever the **** is dumb enough to sign Conley away from the Jazz are gonna have to allow him two years to get acclimated. At 37 years old he'll be up to speed and be ready to play every other game. Also don't count on him in the playoffs. I guess NY might be that stupid they aren't worried about playoffs anyway.

Thats the problem is it only takes one *******. Dallas or Miami might talk themselves into it. I don't see it being really wise and might be a blessing in disguise... If Mike wants 3/80M from NY to be a mentor rather than an actual shot at a title then maybe he's not the dude we want anyway.

Alright so the deal I'd work hard to pursue is Favs for Delon Wright. Add in some sweetners if we need to #30 for #39 seems fair.

Wright can play point but he also has wing size. We need the versatility. The shot comes and goes but he has a solid percentage. He's among the league leaders in steals and deflections. Kings have Fox/Halliburton/Hield at guard and nothing under contract at center. They also have Davis that they likely retain at guard. They likely bring Holmes back but Favs is a real center sized guy and can help with culture stuff.

Even if Mike stays Wright would play and it opens up some financial wiggle room (2.5M). Udoka can actually see the court and you can go give a budget stretch 5 option the minimum or find a guy like Dwayne Dedmon on the scrap heap if Udoka turns out to suck.

Rick Carlisle now officially off the board... If Ryan Smith wanna change this team's coaching, management, or any other personnel he'd better do it quick cuz other teams ain't fooling around
I don't like Quin as a head coach, but the Jazz ain't removing him this year.

I like Delon Right, but think assets should be spent on a quality stretch 4, 5... Finding 2 guards that cant shoot isn't too difficult.

The main point of that deal is to get off the Favors contract, and have the full MLE. I'm still not clear on how much of Favors contract we need to offload to get to the full MLE though?

I don't think we should be looking to trade Favors straight up for somebody. He's a sell very low candidate.

We need to be packaging Favors with Conley or maybe Clarkson or Bojan. In a trade package, he's not that big of an issue. He can still play a role depending on the team who gets him and the number of players involved.

By himself, some other team is only taking him to pick up an additional asset from us or to send us a worse player.
