The story behind the Utah Jazz’s front-office shake-up, and why it happened now

I don't know about him moving on... sounds like he is very much still involved. Donnie was there a long time because he didn't mind Cuban pulling the puppet strings.
The difference in his presence in the media and how vocal he was with the NBA in general and his team in particular is clear. He was borderline rabid. How much have you heard from him since they won a ring? Sure he still owns it, of course he's involved, but it's obvious to even the most casual observer that his intensity in regards to this particular hobby is greatly diminished.

Maybe... I think they got tired of covering it. I think he's still really involved... maybe not as passionate as he once was. I've been to a few Mavs road games and he was still in attendance (in the Bay Area so may have had other stuff to do).

I think he may have also made a conscious choice to at least make it look like he's pulled back in part because of the **** storm that went on there. Would look pretty damning if he was super involved with all that BS going on.

All of that is possible but I still think the timing was telling. He was crazy involved then they won a ring then he pulled back. I think he is still obviously the owner, obviously involved, obviously cares, but also obviously isn't as driven to get every edge he can to win it again. There are degrees to this and it's funny when so many people can't fathom nuance. It isn't all or nothing but there was a definite drop-off in intensity. It's like the first time a teenager has sex. They do everything in their power to get it done, but afterwards they still want it, opportunistically get it when they can, seek it out, and all that, but the level of obsession definitely drops a few notches.

This latter part is exactly how I (and probably everyone) here feels about a title. I’ve never experienced my team win it all and I’ve been at this foreplay too long. I’m really looking forward to that refractory period.

I've got them Larry O Blue Balls. Can't wait to put my weiner in that trophy.

I see your point, but one of the things the bench needs to do is not be a greasefire when they are playing. Either they tread water or outscore the other's bench a little and be pleasant to have around. You can have an uber talented bench that eventually erupts into flames because of all the alpha personalities. The year after Stockton and Malone left, Sloan got a bunch of rag tag players and came within a game of making the playoffs. The secret was they played hard, played decent D, boxed out and knocked down shots when left open. Where is Ben Handlogten when we need him?
of course there ain't no greasefire when there's hardly any competition.

Quite the opposite to your argument, i'd say our min guys are currently having the best time in the entire league right now compared to other teams counterparts.

Because they are making NBA min salary without having to actually play like one.

Like i've said before, Miye Oni, Forrest, Morgan, Thomas. These are the guys that probably won't even make it to other teams 15 men roster. And collecting a paycheck of 1.5mil/year is better than not having a paycheck at all. Especially you are making these money without actually having to play any meaningful basketball.

Austin Rivers, by comparison, played his heart out for the Nuggets in the playoffs. Averaging 30min a game for them. And you know what his salary is? 270k. That's 1/6 of the money that Oni is currently making, who hardly played for us all season. So I bet Rivers does not enjoy his situation one bit cuz he had to work his *** off to earn every penny.

If we do the math here, for every min that Morgan's played for us this season, he's making roughly 10k off of it.

And Ersan's making roughly 8k/min on the Jazz.

Doke? He's making 30k/min.

So you tell me, why would there be any greasefire when those guys just collecting paychecks left and right without having to work for it?

We could've so easily spent those money on guys who could actually play in that Clippers series. That's the sad part.
