Describing it as a “dark path” is an interesting choice of words given this type of thing is usually described as “sunlight being the best disinfectant”, “removing the cover of secrecy”, and “exposing to the light”. It is not usually said that opening things up makes a path “dark”.

The post in question referred to learning the identity of the killer of Ashli Babbit. I didn't know we were talking the 2020 popular vote.
That’s because you’re missing context. Trump and the right merely want to “out” the officer in order to further justify violence while making Babbit a martyr for Jan 6’s insurrection. This context makes it necessary to protect this officer’s identity.
Please tell us how revealing the identity of the person who shot Babbitt disinfects something infected, uncovers something needing uncovering, or exposes something to light that needs exposure.
