Lets do a poll to see who Jazzfanz like for the Jazz's 1st-round pick. You can make up to three (3) selections, and you can also change your selection(s) if you change your mind.

If there's someone you like who isn't listed in the poll, add his name in the comments.

Another guy to watch for us imo is Jeremiah Robinson Earl. I get the feeling we will pivot from projects to guys that are ready to play now… won’t say whether it’s right or wrong but I think taking the good basketball player fromVillanova has been a sound drafting strategy. The guy should be a second round pick according to most mocks but guessing we take a look at him when it’s our turn to pick.

I also think there is a better than 50% chance we slide backwards… latest rumblings with Favs in the trade rumors leads me to believe we are looking at cost cutting moves. If Thor and Butler were off the board I’d move back… ayayi is meh… if he’s there in the 40s go ahead.

I'm thinking Joe Weiskamp may be in play at #30 too. He's kind of the Kevin Huerter of this draft.

I kind of like JRE too (once again, I like too many guys). The guy knows how to play on both sides of the ball. If he develops a 3-pointer could be a good small-ball 5 (won't protect the rim, much but would be excellent in a switching scheme).

I picked Butler, Murphy, Thor. Will probably change my mind 10 times between now and the draft. Vrenz, Ayo, and Roko were also tempting.

(I'm a little surprised we haven't heard any chatter about Vrenz and Roko from Tony or others in the Jazz media.)

Jazz need a player with size/length, athleticism and shooting. Some on-ball creation would be helpful. I picked Roko, Vrenz and Murphy. Roko just stands out a mile to me. I could see Ayo though.

I don't think he goes 1st round. I could see him go in the 35 - 40 range though. He's a bit underrated in some mocks. His shooting is holding him back, imo.

The jazz will select whichever of these guys would likely still be available later in the 2nd round.

I don’t think Murphy lasts to #30 and I couldn’t figure out why he was mocked so low earlier.

Jazz are keeping their workouts a secret this year. Vrenz attended the Utah/Minnesota Combine though. So the Jazz would have worked him out and interviewed him in that setting.

I want Roko so badly. I love his game and think he would be a great fit on this team. I honestly think we trade out of the first round and into the second round, but some of these guys could possibly still be on the board early in the 2nd.

This pick is getting traded
To trade back? To trade out just to get off Fav’s contract?

If Fav were to get bought out at the deadline, would his salary still count against the cap? If not, why not just buy him out then? Then we’re not giving up a first round pick, and wouldn’t the buyout price be cheaper even than the tax check we sign just this year, assuming Conley is back at around his expected salary? I’d much rather pay Fav than cut a check to the NBA.

That also gives us a bit of time to rehab his reputation and try to move him at the deadline for a second round pick rather than giving up a first.

I don’t think fav has to rehab his rep. He had an okay season… playoffs is a different animal but not every team is a playoff team. He can help a team but just paid above the normal big market. Problem with waiting is you might get a better trade package but salary relief is likely not available at that point.

Favs looked good against Memphis. All of our guys looked pretty soft trying to guard the Clippers (except Rudy).

Charlotte is a team notorious for overpaying average big men with little success. I think Favors would be a great get for them. Less than $10 million for a big they know can count on to contribute. It's unlikely Charlotte would attract a player like Favors or better without a big overpay.

A bunch of teams could use Favors -- Lakers, Knicks, ... Kings might lose Richaun Holmes.

I agree.

The Lakers are difficult to match in terms of salary unless for some reason they want Favors for Kuzma in some package.

Would anybody consider Favors for Knox a win? Saves us $4 million this year and gives us some youth?
