He was actually really good aside from that stupid hamstring, and someone like CP3 had hamstring problems as well but finally remained healthy at age 36. $25 million for Mike? If that's his market, find a way to sign and trade him. The guy has missed more playoff games than he has made.

We really going to spend $25 on Mike, $36 on Rudy, $10 on Favors and $20 on Bojan?

No wonder Don might want out. Our FO is a bunch of morons.

Conley has the Jazz by the nads. Unless Smith wants to go tankaplazoza and signing JLIII, you have to pay the man.

Nah. At that price tag, let's hope he wants the Sixers or some team that's capped out and we trade his butt for value elsewhere.

$25 million for injury prone Mike is about as dumb as $40 million for a big who can't catch or dribble.

$25/yr for two years for Mike doesn’t matter. You’re ****ed without him. When you go to “blow it up” he’s expiring anyway. Or if you “blow it up” a year earlier, he’s got large expiring that can be moved.

If we are smart, we don't have to blow it up because we lose Mike or Rudy. We should be prepared for a transition, not a tear down.

Donovan Mitchell could end up being the best player in the history of the franchise. Leveraging all our hopes to Mike and Rudy is shortsighted.

In his two years with the Jazz he's played in eleven playoff games and missed seven. Five were missed because of injury and two because of the birth of his son.

There are a couple pathways where we can be okay if Mike leaves, but they’re pretty low likelihood. Not something one should bank on. But, hey, we banked on not needing depth or other defensive options, so why the hell not?
 
Assuming we re-sign Mike and make the big swing for the next couple of years, here’s an idea: Trade Bogie + the 30th pick to the Wizards for Bertans, Chandler Hutchinson, and the 15th pick. Then with the 15th pick, take a long, high potential wing like Chris Duarte, Trey Murphy, or Zaire Williams.

Jazz Logic: Still have elite 3P shooting with Bertans, add young high-potential, 3-D player with good size/length in Hutchinson probs ready to contribute now, and add high potential 3-D wing via draft (and if Duarte might actually be a contributor soon). Defense at the 4 probably isnt much worse even with Bertans’ limitations, and 3D wings address key gap for us. Ryan pays the tax since he’s in “all in” mode.

Wizards Logic: Bogie gives them dynamic 3rd scorer to fit with Beal and Westbrook and saves them money w/ shorter contract. Well worth the swap from 15 - 30 in the draft.
 
I think if the Jazz keep their powder dry, they can have Chandler Hutchison for nothing. He got shipped out of Chicago because Billy Donovan concluded he wasn't a prospect and he didn't exactly get a lot of time with the Wiz and the Wiz have a new coach. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chandler's name on the waiver wire.

Fair point, but I’m also interested in that 15th pick. Feel like that’s a key part of the value here. I guess I’m looking for a bit of a hedge on the “all in now” strategy to bring in some legit talent to develop.
