UPDATED: 2021 All-Time NBA Draft

We are vetoing this but not the Jordan trade?

Lol what???

Let’s break down both trades based on where they were drafted.

1, 108, 109, 112 for 7, 27, 51, 82

vs

16, 114 for 35, 52

You tell me which one would happen pre-draft and which one wouldn’t.

No one in their right mind would trade down from 16 to 35 to get 52 instead of 114.

There are already three votes to veto.

I really don't care if it gets vetoed because Duncan is a really good player I just don't see how I'm the one getting robbed here

You traded a surefire top-10 player ever for:

A stat-padder that doesn’t play defense, doesn’t make his teammates better, offers no positional versatility, and only “spaces” the floor insofar as another team is scared of him shooting the worst shot in basketball. There’s a reason he fell to where he did.

Ray Allen is a spectacular shooter but also a poor defender. He doesn’t offer a ton else (decent passer, not a great creator, no positional versatility, not a rebounder). He is an absolutely useful and worthy player in a contest like this where we have to figure out how stars can all play together (I was considering him with my 3rd pick, so don’t get me wrong on how important the strength of his specialty is).

The Jordan trade made @White Chocolate ’s team worse, IMO. Big gamble to gut your team for a bunch of late picks.

You got rid of one of the most inflated players ever and a specialist for a top-10 player at the exact position you were weakest. It is insane.

The fact that Thee is so mad that it is getting vetoed shows how lopsided it is.

We can veto the Jordan trade too if you guys want I don’t care because I gave up half my team and would finish drafting it out all in the 9th/10th rounds.

This is the first trade that I have felt is so lopsided that I couldn’t not say something.

There have been conversations about who's better between Duncan and Barkley and Allen is so much more than just a shooter but ya know what it's over now I just don't get how this trade got vetoed

In a contest where a bunch of stars all want one ball, specialties come out. Allen has more juice to his game, that’s why he’s a great and not Kyle Korver. But on teams with talent (where guys have to figure out where they fit with other talent, like he demonstrably did on the Celtics), he functioned mostly as a high-end specialist. It so happens his specialty is incredibly valuable and he’s one of the best ever at it, but yes, he had more wiggle to his game than your run-of-the-mill player.

And the question of Barkley vs Duncan is a conversation I am not sure I’ve heard be honestly entertained by anyone. I’m not sure he would be even an all-star in the modern game. Again, he was passed on by everyone for a reason.

Trust me, even with no spacing, you want Tim Duncan.
