Historically Great Offense

We are currently on pace to have the largest difference between top offensive rating and league average offensive rating in the history of the league (per Locke). We just eviscerated the 3rd, 4th, and 5th best defensive teams in the league. Drop big, switch everything, zone, it doesn't seem like there is a defensive strategy that we struggle with any more.

Personally, and I'm not sure why, but I love great team defense. I enjoy watching great help and recovery, rotations, moving your feet, boxing out, etc. Because of this I haven't always been able to appreciate how skilled and connected this team is capable of playing on offense.

I'm starting this thread to take a moment and appreciate what we are witnessing.

My only question for this team is simple - can you win a seven games series four times and win the championship?

This needs to be talked about more. Defense and late game execution has been frustrating at times, but we’re obliterating teams on offense.

We have a punchers chance against anyone.

Yeah, I get it, and want that to. I don't feel great about our chances honestly, and we all know the holes in our team that haven't gone away. Jazz fandom hasn't always been easy, and taking advantage of our championship window, etc.

That said, I think it's emotionally healthy to pause and appreciate when we are doing something historically great.

Jazz are just an extremely well oiled machine. Even when the individuals arent playing particularly well, the team's offense just gets such amazing looks that it's impossible for the offense to be anything less than good.

So what's the saying
If it's not broke don't fix it
Do Jazz want to make any major trades that might backfire

I love boxing metaphors.... and I would prefer my team not be in the “puncher” position.

Agreed, but that is the way this team is built. Back to back eliminations and blown series leads despite playing elite offense in both series. We're probably going to be able to score on anyone, but there's also going to be certain teams that will completely annihilate our 1 vs 5 defensive strategy.

I think we're a little bit of a better team this year because Gay and Whiteside look like clear talent upgrades over last year, but it's mostly the same team and our strengths/weaknesses are the same. To quote another boxing metaphor., styles make fights. I'm not sure that perfect counter exists in the same way that LAC did last year. Maybe Kawhi is back by then and they become a primary threat.

GSW, PHX, and UTA have been in a league of their own in the west and I think both of those teams present tough, but not impossible challenges.

Defense hasn’t looked great at times this year but offensively this team is fun to watch. I should probably appreciate this team more than I have so far this season.
