I do not know why, but recently the use of the word "ask" as a noun is really grating on my nerves. It is in CONSTANT use.

"What is the ask here?"

"We need to understand the ask."

"Did you submit your ask?"

"Why did the ask change?"

And the best one yet...using ask as a noun when ask as a verb would be much simpler.

"What ask are you saying you need?"

Please just stop.

That last one is a big ask for me to get behind.

I **** you not, one of my co-workers who does this more than most just walked into my office and said "What was that ask you were looking for?"

I said, "do you mean, what was I asking about?"

He said, "yeah, what was your ask."

Grrrrrrrr!!!!

They say that people who use the jargon seem more competent and in command. It's like street slang but for business people. Only it is incredibly annoying to a fairly large portion of us who find it completely ****ing ridiculous.

My experience has been the opposite. Those who use the jargon extensively are usually covering up for something lacking elsewhere by using the buzzwords. Had a coworker get stuck on things like "synergies" and such, and was pretty quickly canned because he was straight up incompetent. He said "bleeding edge" one time too many and was cut.

Yeah I was really surprised to read that because I get really turned off by it. It's like a middle age man using 20 year old slang terms around younger kids to sounds cool.

Dudes in white or black cars of a model that is used in some places as police cars that have a push bar and spot light, among other possible modifications, that make them look like they might be a cop.

These dudes are 100% creeps.
