So why in the love of God do we continue to run the same iso plays for Mitchell in the closing seconds of close games? I mean I thought Jerry Sloan had become too predictable and that the game had passed him by, but I honestly think that Snyder is worse in this respect. The defense knows exactly what we're going to do which puts us at a decided disadvantage.

That, coupled with running his horses into the ground leading to injury while failing to give backups ample real-game time preparation; inability to make in-game or in-series adjustments to counter opposing coaches, all leads me to feel like he should have a WCF mandate in place if he doesn't already.

We run that same play because three points is better than two and Donovan is our best offensive player. Something something about always wanting your best player taking the shot. Something moneyball something.

Something that worked once in awhile would be nice. Small sample size but Bogey and Conley have the better % for game winners. And Gobert is an obvious and often ignored option when down by one or two.

Don’t rush to rash judgements and maybe let Quin get a sample of a hundred missed off-balance, moving away from the basket, highly contested threes before we write it off.

The only players to hit buzzer beaters in the past 6 years are Bojan (twice) and Rudy (once).

Oh geez I guess you got me then (Conley who's hit a number of big shots down the stretch that I've seen). I guess we should just forge forward with this game plan as it seems to be working so well, I mean at least until we can get a proper sample size of missed off balance, moving away from the basket shots.

Regarding the shots I wasn't saying that to disagree -- it's two separate things. I don't know what the percentages are for game-winning shots, but at least on buzzer beats Donovan hasn't hit one.

But yes. We need at least a sample of a hundred of those Donovan shots before we can say there's a pattern, so until then we need to keep shooting that silly shot because every inexperienced idiot who says it's a bad shot is wrong, and there's a hidden genius to it that's only available at a certain point of enlightenment after death where the heavens part and God unfolds the mysteries of the universe. Then it will make sense.

PS So you're telling me that Mitchell has never hit a buzzer beater for us? For real? Even Hayward must've hit at least one buzzer beater in his tenure here.

No buzzer beaters for Donovan. I had looked it up last night. There’s a website. It may have even been Basketball Reference.

Not a buzzer beater but missed a 30 foot three to tie Miami with 9 seconds left. Against Memphis missed a step back shot to win with 1.8 seconds left. And then the Spurs game. That’s just this year.

This isn’t to beat up on Don. But we get there as a team. There’s a whole structure and offense to get shots. It doesn’t have to be so predictable. The fact that it is means Don is getting really poor looks. Want him to make more buzzer beaters? Don’t have a track record that tells the defense they only need to stop one person.
