Oni traded to Thunder

exactly. each second rounder is worth at least 1.5mil and the jazz just gave up one to save well less than that amount.

At least we "saved" more than the $80k we did with Tucker. This has got to be the dumbest cap team in the league. Why would you keep trading second round picks to save wayyy less than the cash value of the second round pick itself?

It's one thing to be cheap and sell of assets for cash...but how ****ing stupid do you have to be to sell off second round picks and lose cash in the process?

they can literally sell a future second round pick for 2mil in cash right now to pay for everything. they are literally and figuratively underselling these picks right now.
The tax savings is what they are after... it is theoretically 2-2.5M depending on their next move.

Dang it, I keep digging through this thread just trying to get to the end of it and find that damn pony, but all I run into is more and more crapo_O

You will get to the end to discover the Pony was always a Jackass.... sorry.

Imagine if they had just taken Butler with #30 and then bought a second round pick at the end of the draft and signed that guy to a one year deal while waiving Oni.... you are salary neutral... have a different prospect you may like better on a potentially more valuable contract because it would have a team option on the second year. You have JB on a 4 year deal now and can be a little more patient with him if you need to. Go ahead and decline that Dok option too.... I just saved the Jazz a couple picks and some dough too!
they need to hire you to be their tax expert

We waive a guy and immediately get our first guy in protocols.... the Churro is pissed.

The NBA would step in and reduce a competitive advantage they have? I think it cuts both ways for OKC. When they want to turn the firsts into real players a team will ask for 3 firsts instead of 2.... I mean you have the picks.... give em up.

Philly and Boston didn't capitalize on their excess picks.... I think OKC will. We've not really seen one guy fully execute and see the "process" through from cradle to grave.
Im just saying they should cap how many draft picks a team can trade for the same way they cap how many picks a team can trade out.

I don’t understand this at all. What the **** are they doing.

There has to be something we don’t know at this point, like that it is unlikely to convey or something? Like… what? How does this jive with picking up the option on the worst 1st round selection since… uhh… I honestly don’t even know when or who.
we are getting fleeced by OKC and that's what happened. unless we dealt with OKC to build a good FO connections like we did with cavs and there are future OKC trade coming, i don't see how they recover from this. it just does not look good

They could have paid $1.1 Mil like the Lakers did to get off the hook for the tax....but no, we've got to do things the Utah Jazz way. Trade the second round pick, which is worth $2M+ if it's a garbage pick to do the same thing.

That also hampers deals.... In general I am for less trade restrictions. If a team wants to pile up draft picks then go for it. They aren't the worst team in the league and are better than some teams trying to be good now.
