First NBA.com Power Rankings

I think they have us placed more or less correctly, +/- 3 places.

Sloan had complete autonomy. My guess is that Corbin will have significantly less than that, infact I'll bet he's not allowed to change the sitting arrangements on the team bus without a sign-off by at least KOC. If Ty plays Roger Bell 38 minutes a night while Burks and Hayward sit, its because he was told to.

Who doesnt want to see Roger play 38 minutes a night. There will probably be a good clothesline at some point.

I'm calling it now, Williams to Lopez is going to TEAR IT UP. If they can find a third player worth a ****, they are going to do pretty well.

That offensive combo will be good I agree. I just hope for NJ's sake that Lopez worked on his aggressiveness. Is there such thing as an aggressiveness coach.

these are power rankings, not predictions. they're not saying we are going to finish the season in 23rd place. it just means that right now 22 teams have more reason to be optimistic.

even if it were a prediction, would that matter? eight years ago a guy predicted 8 wins for the jazz in a preseason prognostication column. instead, they finished with a winning record and only missed out on a playoff spot by nature of the tiebreaker.

Nope, being aggressive is a skill you can't teach. You can't fake the funk. Lopez will always be a good offensive center who is held back by his lack of rebounding ability. He averaged 6 rebounds per game last year for crying out loud. No wonder Humphries looked so dominant on the boards, he had no one to compete against.

I would put the Jazz ahead of the Warriors in these predictions. I live in the Bay Area, and am not psyched about the Ws.
The Nets finished 15 games behind the Jazz last year. That's how we got the #3 pick in the draft. They're not better than we are. So there.
Phoenix finished 1 game better than the Jazz and won't be better than last year. We will.
We finished 7 games better than the Clippers last year. I know they're rising, but I think we're on par with them or better.

So 18 is my best offer. Take it or leave it.

I actually don't want expectations to be too low for the Jazz. We should be a fringe playoff team at least. Favors and Kanter, although they're young, need to know that they're authorized to kick everyone's a&$.

I also want the Jazz to play the younger players, not just because they need experience, but because they're better than most of the older players. There is no reason to play Bell ahead of Burks or Hayward, or to play Okur too many minutes ahead of Favors or Kanter.

The Warriors are trash. What the hell are they doing over there?

(Answer: hopefully sending us Curry, Wright, and/or Jenkins)

I'd bet against us making the playoffs, sorry. The way I see it, the Lakers, Thunder, Spurs, Grizzlies, Blazers, and Mavs are all very safe bets to make the playoffs. That leaves 2 spots. Now it's hard to tell how good a lot of these teams in the West will be, but I see no legit reason to put the Jazz ahead of the Suns, Clippers, Hornets, Warriors, and maybe the Nuggets depending on if they get Nene back. That's six teams that are around the same level competing for the final two playoff spots, so chances are we won't be making it.

I don't care about your logic. We're making the playoffs and my word is final.

Playoffs or not, as long as I don't see the dbag jazz rowdy gorillas, ill consider this season a success.

If the Jazz keep their team in tact, I'll predict that the Jazz finish above the Suns, Hornets, Warriors and probably the Clippers too, thereby taking the last playoff spot. It goes without saying that we'll finish ahead of the Wolves and the Sacramento Jimmerettes. We'll get the 11th and 16th pick in next year's draft and take Adonis Thomas/Patric Young and Myck Kabongo/Kendall Marshall.

Sorry to be the spoiler...

Edit: Actually, I have no idea who we'd take in the draft.

If we make the playoffs, we lose our pick to Minnesota.

...the only thing that kept the Jazz ahead of a lot of these teams was that we had more basketball brains than they did....despite our lack of athleticism. Well, now we have neither basketball brains nor athleticism. So we will be hard pressed to move much higher in those rankings.....unless the Jazz coaching staff can come up with something better than "puttin up....and then grabs the rebounds!"

Have you watched the Jazz at all last year? We are hoppers now and it's going to be glorious.

Super athletic: Favors, Evans, Burks(?)
Athletic: Harris, Miles, Hayward
Par: Millsap, Kanter(?)
Athletically challenged: Jefferson, Okur, Bell
