Trade deadline discussion

He lives for the mistakes.
I seriously hate that he yanks JB and Forrest when they make mistakes we see the other guys make all the damn time. It is so hard to play basketball scared. I'd love to see what would happen if he gave JB half the freedom he gives JC.

Even Forrest who I was critical of was terrible when he was playing not to screw up. He's been so much better with a little bit of confidence.

What's especially maddening is that Quin's green-light with Clarkson is based entirely on this! LFF? He's not letting Clarkson shoot every shot because they're good, he does because he's trusting that more of them will go in if he's not playing with anxiety.

Great post. Well put.

Just for book-keeping. We have a 2025 and 2026 second round pick still.... but we can't trade them unless we change the pick protections on the first we owe Memphis. Or we can trade them but state if we have to give those picks to Memphis then they won't convey.

So we have like some theoretical seconds we can offer. Plan accordingly.

Is it possible the Lakers have actually found someone to take Westbrook?

I don't see how. I am not sure I have ever seen anything like the wrecking ball that is Russell Westbrook to his own teams. The only trade that makes any sense is for Wall, but the Rockets are demanding a 1st and LA really can't send any for that purpose.

Now if they can get Eric Gordon thrown in after sending the 1st... then it gets interesting. That's what they should be shooting for; throwing in whatever 2nds they can and whatever reasonable matching salary for Wall and Gordon.

But it really might just be impossible to trade Russ. In previous years he at least put up fake stats but this **** is bananas.

Are there limits to the amount of pick swaps you can exchange? Like if Portland got the rights to swap picks with LA for 20 years in exchange for Westbrook/Lillard?

Cant go out beyond 2028

The thing with Quin is that he really values players who play confident. I think that's why he likes Clarkson so much and why he has gravitated towards Forrest.

Maybe NAW is that dude

Hernangomez likely gets dealt somewhere tomorrow and I still think Gay might get moved too. Hard to see anything else happening.
