Jazz shopping Al Jefferson?

Granger is obviously a better shooter and is bigger but Iggy is better at every other part of the game. To me, our biggest need is defense so I would take Iggy over Granger all day. Plus I think Iggy would be a good player for Burks to learn from.
I think our biggest need is shooting. Iggy does nothing to help that.

I have very little interest in Iggy on this roster. Only way a team should want Iggy is if they have a dead eye shooter at SG or SF to play alongside him. We don't.

Isn't Hayward supposed to be that player? We have some hope for shooting (Hayward, Miles, Okur, etc.) Is there really any hope on defense right now? Especially perimeter defense. Maybe we could get Korver back too for Miles.

Exactly.

We need defense and better rebounding.

Exactly. Hayward was one of the top 3 pt shooters in the entire league last year and everyone acts like he can't shoot anything longer than a layup. He is a very solid shooter, and will likely only get better.

I definitely doubt we'll have four all-stars as well. Six teams in NBA history have had four all-stars in the same year, three Celts teams, the Lakers with Kobe and Shaq, the recent Pistons team, and a Sixers team in the 80's. If we do, I'd love it. But the chances are so extremely slim.

You can never have enough shooters. Iggy is a good perimeter defender, but does he ever shut down the top players?

Ok what I gathered from this thread is we need shooting, rebounding, and defense :) Perhaps that's why we are rated 23 of 28 in the power rankings.

Are all the points listed here when Iguodala was guarding them? He recently did a pretty good job on LeBron in the playoffs if I remember right.
Iggy did outscore LeBoner 22-16 once in the five playoff games that they have met, but the Miami Morons won that game anyway, and LBJ more than doubled Iggy's scoring during the series. (For the five games, LBJ outrebounded AI; and Iggy had a small edge in assists & steals.)

None of these head-to-head matchups really make Iguodala any more compelling for me. We just got through with an albatross max contract for a defense-oriented player. While Iggy is a better scorer than AK-47, he's not worth mid eight figures, even though he can lock down.

For wing defense, the best model is to pay the mid level or less for a no-holds-barred stopper, such as Bruce Bowen or Raja Bell (five years ago, anyway; not now <<banging head>>), who can hopefully score some points.

Or maybe an aging Andrei (within the same sub-MLE salary range).

And/or bring back Ronnie Price for the primary purpose of being a defensive gadfly (just like Hoffa and Fesenko should have been used, for starters), an in-practice tough guy (as if they're gonna have many of those this year), and a last-resort PG.

Or just enforce defense among the players you've got.

...who, in there right mind, would want Jefferson on there team and at that price? He's pathetic offensively, can't figure out how to run or defend the pick and roll...his defense is turrible.....he can't remember how to run simple plays.....he's basically a school yard type board crasher and that's about it!
Do us all a favor and turn off your computer

Hotpocket is right, he's a great shooter. Like hot cheese shooting into your fat as **** mouth.

I agree but doesn't that work best when you have great offensive players (superstars)? The Jazz currently do not have that. He is obviously an overall upgrade a wing for us at just scoring (he is becoming one of the best wing passers also) and I figure perimeter defense is a huge need, so I have no problem with swapping Jefferson's crappy contract for his. I agree with those who say we should wait it out and see what we actually have in Favors and Kanter though, and who knows if Philly would even want Al for Iggy. He is no doubt overpaid, but his contract would be up in 3 years (assuming he takes his player option) which we be when we would dish out the money to our future core (Favors, Hayward, Kanter, Burks). I can definitely see the hesitation with Jazz fans about a player like him after just getting done with AK though.

I'll give you Hayward. But with Harris,Iggy, Millsap or Favors and Jefferson on the floor it leaves us exactly 1 shooter. We need defensive players. But we need defensive players inside 1st. I am hoping Favors and Kanter can be that. But Millsap and Jefferson are definitely not that.
