The Hornets have started to inform teams that they're sending Chris Paul to the Lakers for Bynum and Odom, league sources tell Y! Sports.

He then corrected himself, and said that it was Gasol not Bynum who was headed to the Hornets.



I'm not sure that this deal necessarily improves the Lakers. They are one Andrew Bynum knee injury away from being a 45 win team at best. Bryant and CP3 haven't exactly been healthy over the last few years either. The Lakers went from having one of the best frontlines in the league, to one of the thinest. They have no one to start at power foward unless they can get a vet to sign for cheap. They have basically no bench now, they just lost Shannon Brown to the Suns. I think the Jazz match up VERY well with the Lakers now, I think we'll give them all they can handle in our opener. Should be a fun game!

No way either of those players is prepared to leave tens of millions of dollars on the table. Lakers would still be massively over the cap after amnesty.

They don't have a big who can now stay healthy and be productive. Like others have said, better Paul than Howard. If they sign Marc Gasol then I will be a little angry.

And at least it wasn't a Kwameesque type deal. They had to give up some serious pieces to get him. Also, 2 of their best players now play with a bum leg each and Kobe can only go Germany so many times a year.

How does Paul agree to stay at LA then? Carmello + Tyson seems a lot more attractive than Kobe + Aging MLE Veterans.
