Donovan Mitchell Trade Threads

I’ve said it before, my best-case scenario for a Mitchell trade is Dame. Jazz are essentially getting the more mature, clutch, Utah-loving version of Donovan who also happens to be taller and a better passer, and fits that timeline perfectly. Only real concern is how many years he wants on his extension.

LaVine is another interesting option depending on how the Bulls finish out. If they decide they don’t want to pay him his next max contract a swap of Mitchell and LaVine makes some sense for both teams. LaVine works next to Conley and Mitchell works next to Ball and DeRozan. LaVinr would have to agree as a sign and trade and the Jazz would need to send some other players out as they’d be hard-capped.
Agree with that. Pretty sure a trio Lavine/ Mike/ Gobert could be a very good. option.

This Lillard talk needs to end. The dude is about to turn 32 and is no longer a better player than Mitchell. You don't trade Mitchell for an older worse version of himself. That is just stupid so stop mentioning it.

Yes, thank you. I would prefer getting a 6-5 and up athletic young talent with upside then get Lillard, just another Mitchell type and continue to get around the same results, that would just be insanity.

Prime Dame from maybe 5-7 years ago, sure. But Dame's best days are behind him and I want to start anew. The future of this team should lie in people not old enough to buy alcohol much less been in the league for 10+ years.

I'd much rather get draft picks and try and build a team with, and this important, team control in terms of contractual obligations. Get them on the rookie deal and be able to secure their second contract as well since you have the upper hand. I have zero interest in trading for players with only a year or two of a contract as we're right back to where we started.

Not everyone's going to strike gold on a Giannis, but some of the guys coming up like Victor Wembanyama and Dereck Lively may be ungardable in this league and true MVP candidates.

He’s no longer a better player than Mitchell? How high are you right now?

Tell the Phoenix Suns that.

Dame's next contract will be okay for a year or two but will quickly become a millstone imo. He isn't like CP3 and Lebron where they are just basketball geniuses... I mean Lebron still is a physical force too but you catch my drift here.

Start fresh... jump all in and you will hopefully only spend 3 years in the dumps. You hope to hit on 2/3 of your top picks... you collect some young guys from the trades that you hope blossom... with all the other trades (Bogey, Mike, Royce) you get firsts that are lotto tickets in the future or you can use as trade assets when you flip the switch. If our cupboards still had some extra firsts I might think you keep Rudy or Don and try and stitch something together and you would have a little hope of a guy popping in the draft. The draft cupboards are bare... our cap is a mess... and our best players haven't really figured they BS out in 2 years.

With new business opportunities I will tell folks that if its not a good fit just let me know. The best answer you can get is Yes, the second best answer is No, the worst thing that can happen is a slow maybe. The current group is a no... pivoting with one of the guys sends us to the slow maybe group... you will spin your wheels as a treadmill team and lose the opportunity to cash in on the Mike, Bogey, Royce deals in the meantime.

Also, you figure if they trade Rudy we are headed for a season where we finish and get a late lotto or mid first next year. Moving Donovan too takes us from having say the 12-18th pick next year to having a top 5-6 pick... so add that to whatever haul we would get.
