Uhh, you know Rudy's job is not to create offense individually?Rudy not being able to create any offense sure was helpful.

On the flip side, Donovan is able to create a lot of defense for Rudy.Uhh, you know Rudy's job is not to create offense individually?
Of course occasionally he misses a gimme at the rim by bumping it against the front of the rim two times in succession.Whiteside can put the ball in the basket, we just never passed to him...

Part of it is their roles on the National teams, France was pounding the ball into Rudy because USA had no one big enough to guard Rudy. It is hard for Rudy to develop his offensive game when he is setting picks at the top of the key and rarely gets the ball throw to him. Look at some of the box scores where Rudy has 3-6 shots and DM, CJ, Bogey have 15-20 plus. It is really tough to watch when our perimeter guys are clanking 3pts without even trying to get Rudy involved. I just think there needs to be more balance on who gets the shots on the team especially when you have clanked 3 or 4 3pts in a row. Why not try to pass it to the guy who is shooting over 70 percent from the field. There’s a video of Gobert scrimmaging against Wembanyama on YouTube and it’s surprising the array of moves Rudy displays. We never see any of that in games. Is that due to the coach, or offensive game plan? Seems like Rudy still has room for growth in that area. Always felt like we never saw the complete Ingles when he played for the Jazz. Completely different player when he played for Australia.
How can you blame Quin? Did you ever see Rudy catch the ball in the post? It was always a nightmare. Always. I was cringing worse than when Kirilenko used to put up a three...Quin put us in a position to be punked like this. Not just because of what he did within the series, but the whole season-long (multiple seasons) or misapplied emphasis that causes us to lose a series we should have never lost (hell, a series we should have never been in) and it opens the door to a douchebag like Kidd running his mouth.
I’m not talking about Rudy scoring. I’m saying that Quin has done very, very little to change anything since the Denver series. Our team, despite its flaws, is way better than our record this year and definitely should have at least been in the second round, and should have never been a 5th seed. How can you blame Quin? He is a generational defensive talent. But he is not coordinated on the offensive end. Remember the Rockets series? When Rudy tried to post up Chris Paul??? Chris Paul stopped him. Rudy just doesn't have it.
This. I do not think I have seen a team with this level of contending talent so completely unprepared for the post-season before. The end of the season collapse was epic, and terrifying. How we can be so out of touch, and out of our game plan, and out of sync, and out of ideas, and out of our depth, is just beyond me. "The blender" isn't a thing anymore, even though that is how we won most of our games for the past 3 seasons. No one can defend outside of Rudy, House a little, and Juancho and Paschall who at least gave actual effort on defense, and Bogey gets an honorable mention for stepping things up. And we are so so clueless as to how to run really basic defensive schemes, such as a basic zone, and x-out switching D, that every other team seems to run just fine. This lack of preparation was what doomed us, and it was mostly, even to 90%, on Quin. That is his primary job, to prepare the team to play and teach them what they need to do to execute on both ends of the floor. But his vaunted offense was non-existent for huge stretches, and especially at crunch time, and defense was nothing more than an after-thought. "Funnel everything to Rudy, and don't worry about anything else" is not a plan. And even if we lay the blame entirely at the feet of the players for not executing Quin's plans, it still falls on the coach as he couldn't get his team to perform in the most basic ways. No ball movement, no sharing the ball, no one, and I mean NO ONE could hit a shot (that was on the players, but it was also a product of their plummeting confidence after being pounded into the ground so often at the end of the season), and, of course, the piece de resistance, NO DEFENSE.I’m not talking about Rudy scoring.
